Overview

The Piteira Research Group – System Engineering – is dedicated to bringing advanced Nanoeletronics, into mainstream applications within the semiconductor, biomedical, agrifood, industrial, and industrial markets.

 

We are seeking a highly motivated and innovative Mixed-Signal Analog IC Research Assistant to join our team within the scope of a European funded project. We expect the candidate to contribute to the design, modelling, and characterisation of power management circuits, while working at the forefront of technology, exploring novel circuit topologies, in sub-threshold operation for CMOS biomedical ICs.

 

 

Job Duties

The job duties will be the following:

 

  • Conduct original research in the design and development of mixed-signal and analog ICs, including data converters (ADCs/DACs), amplifiers, power management and sensor interfaces;
  • Develop models and simulations to evaluate circuit performance under process, voltage, and temperature (PVT) variations;
  • Publish high-impact research in leading journals and conferences (e.g., ISSCC, VLSI Symposium, JSSC).

 

Mandatory Qualifications

 

Education

  • MSc in Electrical Engineering, Applied Physics, or a related field with a focus on analog/mixed-signal IC design.

 

Experience and Technical Skills

  • Strong expertise in CMOS analog/mixed-signal design and simulation using industry-standard EDA tools (e.g., Cadence, Synopsys, Siemens);
  • Deep understanding of analog circuit theory, signal processing, and noise/power/performance trade-offs;
  • Publication track record in peer-reviewed conferences or journals.

 

Other Valued Skills

  • Experience in tape-out and silicon validation of mixed-signal ICs;
  • Experience in setting up testing and validation frameworks for mixed-signal ICs;
  • Knowledge on ultra-low-power design techniques for the integration of energy harvesters;
  • Knowledge on PMG CMOS process fabrication options (BCD or SOI);
  • Knowledge on open source EDA tools and design kits, and FEM tools.

 

 

Personal Skills

  • Strong problem-solving skills, creativity, and ability to work independently in an exploratory research environment;
  • Previous experience working on groundbreaking technologies in a collaborative, intellectually rich environment.

How the Selection Process works
 

A. Applications eligibility check

D. Nomination
