Overview

The Integrated Micro and Nanotechnologies research group is dedicated to performing state of the art research integrating micro and nanotechnologies to develop innovative solutions in the fields of MEMS and Micro Optical Elements.

 

We are looking for a Postdoctoral Researcher to join our team in the development of microwave impedance cytometry biosensor for drug response analysis.

 

Job Duties

The job duties will be the following:

  • Research and development of microfluidic systems with integrated microwave sensors to measure permittivity of cells and particles;
  • Development of laboratory microwave characterisation setups for microfluidics;
  • Development of models for impedance characterisation of cells and particles.

 

Mandatory Qualifications

 

Education

  • PhD in Electrical Engineering, Physics, Material Science, Life Sciences or other relevant subject.

 

Experience and Technical Skills

  • Previous experience in design and fabrication of microfluidics for biologic applications;
  • Previous experience in cell culturing, maintenance of cells under non-conventional conditions, and application of drugs on cell cultures;
  • Hands-on experience in semiconductor processes and techniques for MEMS and microfluidics (e.g., PhotoLithography, thin-film CVD/PVD, ICP/DRIE, SEM/FITR/XRD/ellipsometry metrology, PDMS & SU-8 processes);
  • Experience in electronic sensor integration with microfluidic devices.

 

Other Valued Skills

  • Previous hands-on experience in microwave impedance cytometry using laboratory equipment;
  • Hands-on experience in setting up laboratory equipment and instrumentation for microwave and microfluidics characterisation;
  • Hands-on experience in cell culture preparation in microfluidics;
  • Experience in data analysis and visualisation scripting (e.g.m Python, MATLAB).

  • Strong motivation to work both independently and as part of a team in an interdisciplinary environment, with the ability to pay close attention to details and to meet deadlines;
