Overview

The Integrated Micro and Nanotechnologies research group is dedicated to performing state of the art research integrating micro and nanotechnologies to develop innovative solutions in the fields of MEMS and Micro Optical Elements.

 

We are looking for a Researcher Assistant to join our team for the research and development of microwave sensors and microwave impedance. 

 

Job Duties

The job duties will be the following:

  • Research and development of new resonant microwave sensors for microfluidic integration;
  • Development of laboratorial microwave impedance characterization setups;
  • Development of particle and material classification algorithms.

 

Mandatory Qualifications

 

Education

  • MSc in degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Physics Engineering, or other relevant subject.

 

Experience and Technical Skills

  • Experience in microwave sensor design (i.e., model and simulation, design, fabrication and characterisation of GHz microwave resonators);
  • Hands-on experience with microwave instrumentation (e.g., signal generators, VNA, spectrum analysers, oscilloscopes);
  • Experience in FEM modelling (e.g., COMSOL, Ansys, HFSS);
  • Experience in signal processing and data analysis (e.g., Python, MATLAB, Mathematica) is required.

 

Other Valued Skills

  • Practical experience with microfluidic devices (e.g., biological and particle sensing applications);
  • Knowledge and experience in cleanroom processes and techniques;
  • Experience in ECAD and PCB development (e.g., Altium).

 

Personal Skills

  • Strong motivation to work both independently and as part of a team in an interdisciplinary environment, with the ability to pay close attention to detail and to meet deadlines;
  • Excellent communication skills and experience in the dissemination of results to the scientific community are expected;
  • Problem Solving ability.

D. Nomination
