R&D Principal Engineer (Electromechanical)

Description

The R&D Principal Engineer will lead the development of a high visibility, high impact project to design medical device products, from early concept to finished product. This includes writing and verifying specifications, developing product process, designing fixtures, testing processes, equipment and raw materials to ensure the concepts and/or prototypes meet their requirements. 
 
Responsibilities
  • Develop new product concepts and products.
  • Perform engineering design and process development.
  • Generate intellectual property, write invention disclosures.
  • Supervise technicians, specialists, and associate engineers.
  • Specify and/or direct the specification and testing of new materials and designs.
  • Confer with appropriate departments, resources, and/or outside services to prepare design modifications, clarify problems and develop designs.
  • Collaborate with physicians and external experts.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • BS engineering degree with 8+ years of related experience
  • Minimum 8 years’ of engineering experience in the medical device industry. 
  • Hands-on experience developing prototype hardware and systems using PCB, Arduino, Raspberry Pi, or similar required
  • Experience with automation and electromechanical systems
  • Ability to build and test bench top test prototypes of electromechanical systems to develop into finish medical device
  • Technical Lead experience.
  • Early Phase Class II or Class III medical device design experience.
  • Peripheral medical systems experience.
  • Apply fundamental and advanced engineering principles, concepts, and techniques to solve complex problems related to product development.
  • Ability to be Self-directed and capable of meeting project goals with minimal supervision.
  • Reading and preparation of technical documentation.
  • Working knowledge of standard machine shop equipment and processes and medical device manufacturing equipment and processes.
  • Knowledge of medical and technical development.
  • Computer skills including Word and Excel.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • CAD proficiency (Solidworks expertise required).
  • 3D printing and design for Injection Molding.
Preferred
  • Catheter design experience.
  • Nitinol experience.
  • Patents experience.

Inari Medical offers competitive health and wealth benefits for our employees. The base pay range for this position is $135,000 - $155,000. A range of factors, including location, skills, and experience, will be considered. Actual compensation may vary.
