Imagine Your Impact.

The Senior Product Designer designs and develops user interfaces for functional software solutions. This position works within the team to define the user experience for teachers, students, districts, parents, and staff to develop high-quality software that is aligned with user needs and business goals.

 

Position Type: This is a regular, full-time position.

 

Compensation: Base pay is anticipated to be between $86,261.00 and $130,000.00 per year. Eligible employees may also receive incentive/commission/annual bonus pay based on individual and/or company performance. Compensation may vary based on factors such as, but not limited to, individual skills, experience, training, education/certifications, geographic location, internal equity, and local market conditions.

 

Location: In this US-based position your location will be remote from your home office.

 

Travel: You can also expect up to approximately 10% travel, so be sure you have a valid driver’s license and automobile insurance and a clean driving record for at least the preceding 39 months.

Envision Your Experience.

In this role you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Lead design activities across all stages of product design and development for assigned initiatives.
  • In collaboration with a multidisciplinary stakeholder including Product Managers, Instructional Designers, and Engineers, identify product requirements, set a design vision for product features, and translate these into buildable interactions and interfaces.
  • Craft insightful experiences and interactions applying the full range of user experience design, visual design, and data visualization skills.
  • Deliver user-centered designs to cross-functional partners through storyboards, flow diagrams, wireframes, visual comps, clickable prototypes, visual specifications documents, and other design deliverables.
  • Present design options to cross functional partners and stakeholders, illustrating the strengths of those options and helping them to choose the one that best matches user and business needs for the initiative.
  • Collaborating with UX Researchers, evaluate concepts through user research and usability testing. Interview users to test your work, iterate on the work, and validate the final result.
  • Facilitate design thinking exercises to increase the team’s understanding of the user and business needs of the initiative.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with cross functional partners including other Product Designers, Instructional Designers, Product Managers, Engineers, and others.
  • Establish design patterns for products on which you work, helping partners in Product Experience Design and Engineering to apply those patterns to provide consistency to users and increase speed to market.
  • Mentor other designers in work for their assigned initiatives, sharing your skills with them to increase their abilities.

 

Share Your Expertise.

Experience, education, and qualifications essential for success in this role, include:

  • 5+ years of user interface and data visualization design.
  • Strong experience using design methods, processes, and exercises, including design thinking, journey maps, affinity mapping, etc.
  • Ability to select the right design method or “play” for the situation.
  • Strong experience in visual design, interaction design, and prototyping, demonstrated in a reviewable portfolio of prior work.
  • Experience working with product managers, researchers, designers, and engineers.
  • Excellent interpersonal, presentation, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Experience with design systems. Familiarity with web accessibility.
