The Senior Software Security Engineer is part of the Information Security team.  This role uses skills to improve the security of the company’s platforms and utilizes coding skills to automate security detection and reporting to detect, investigate and remediate cyber security threats.  The Senior Software Security Engineer will use communication skills to work alongside the product and operations engineering teams to secure applications and infrastructure in a dynamic cloud environment.

Position Type: This is a regular, full-time position.

Compensation: Base pay is anticipated to be between $106,557 and $130,000 per year. Eligible employees may also receive incentive/commission/annual bonus pay based on individual and/or company performance. Compensation may vary based on factors such as, but not limited to, individual skills, experience, training, education/certifications, geographic location, internal equity, and local market conditions.

Location: In this US-based position your location will be remote. The ideal candidate must live in the Tempe or Phoenix, AZ area.

In this role you’ll have the opportunity to:

• Contributes to open-source tools.
• Recognizes areas of technical debt that need to be addressed to maintain a healthy application.
• Take proactive initiative on all projects with a strong sense of ownership.
• Documents decisions made during planning or other sources in Confluence.
• Participates in all aspects of developing new features including story collaboration, estimation, analysis, design, programming, unit/integration, testing and debugging.
• Take into consideration product quality and user experience.
• Mentors Engineers and motivates squad to constantly improve team SDLC (Software Development Lifecycle).
• Other duties as required.

Share Your Expertise.

Experience, education, and qualifications essential for success in this role, include:

• Bachelor of Science in Computer Science and 8 plus years of related experience; or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
• Demonstrated experience developing web applications.
• Mastery with a core language and framework.
• Experienced with additional languages.
• Experience securing cloud-based infrastructure such as AWS or Azure
• Knowledge of web/networks protocols, attach techniques, and frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK and the OWASP standard.
• Infrastructure as Code (Pulumi, Terraform, CloudFormation), and Kubernetes (Kops, kubectl, helm) is preferred.
• Familiarity with security tools such as EDR/XDR, vulnerability management, enterprise logging, and IDS/IPS/network security preferred.
