Imagine Your Impact.

The Academic Designer writes, plans and develops digital content for student and teacher materials. This position collaborates with other departments to prototype and lead the development of specialized builds in Social Studies.

 

Position Type: This is a regular, full-time position.

 

Compensation: Base pay is anticipated to be between $60,044 and $70,000 per year. Eligible employees may also receive incentive/commission/annual bonus pay based on individual and/or company performance. Compensation may vary based on factors such as, but not limited to, individual skills, experience, training, education/certifications, geographic location, internal equity, and local market conditions.

 

Location: In this US-based position your location will be remote.

Envision Your Experience.

In this role you’ll have the opportunity to:

  • Develop prototypes and project proposals, and contribute to the overall creative development of StudySync, when assigned.
  • Develop templates, writer’s guidelines, and site features to ensure adherence to quality standards and functionality.
  • Work directly with contractors and copyeditors to answer content questions, provide targeted or general feedback, and ensure quality and/or accuracy of StudySync materials across builds.
  • Develop standards correlations and other documents necessary for the approval of courses by state departments of education and other clearinghouse bodies.
  • Coordinate with project managers, academic and other design teams, video production specialists, web engineers, outside vendors, and partner organizations about content, project schedules, and future development.
  • Collaborate with other departments and partner organizations to prototype, schedule, and lead the development of assigned builds, production additions, and enhancements.
  • Demonstrates strong understanding of curriculum design, and creates engaging, research-based content that aligns with state standards and more widely used frameworks.
  • Assists with research tasks around pedagogy, authorship, and/or user experience.
  • Completes detailed analysis of competitive materials and stays current on market trends and shifts.
  • Other duties as required.

 

Share Your Expertise.

Experience, education, and qualifications essential for success in this role, include:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in social studies, cultural studies, or other relevant discipline, and a minimum of 3 years of teaching experience or curriculum development in the relevant subject area and grade level; or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • Excellent writing and editing skills and the ability to produce quality work in a timely manner.
  • Experience with curriculum design or lesson writing preferred.
  • Experience creating standards-aligned curriculum preferred.
  • Fluency in written and spoken Spanish is required.
  • Initiative to share ideas, identify great stories, and propose concepts for future development.
  • Ability to collaborate, coordinate, and build consensus in a fast-paced, web-based, deadline-driven environment.
  • Ability to follow a strict writing format when needed, but also map out full projects independently, and execute them from start to finish.
  • Experience and comfort working with digital education products and other digital tools, including Microsoft Office, Google Drive, and Zoom/video chatting software.
