Job Description

As the Nursing Supervisor, you will provide general oversight to nursing staff, ensuring compliance with the facility mission and providing good customer service including being attentive and compassionate to all residents, their families, and to other staff members. You will be responsible for the nursing department schedule and monitoring and recording staff absences and call-ins. The Nursing Supervisor reports to the facility’s Director of Nursing.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the nursing department is sufficiently scheduled to provide quality excellence
  • Provide management of the nursing care to the residents
  • Participate in shift to shift report and passes on information to the next shift
  • Participate in the development, revision and accuracy of resident care plans

General Responsibilities:

  • Monitor staff compliance to residents’ rights
  • Oversee the work of CNAs to ensure that their assignments are being completed and assist with tasks as needed; monitor for facility values
  • Transfer and discharges residents with appropriate and accurate information
  • Participate in new nursing staff orientation and onboarding
  • Maintain up-to-date TB test, employee licenses, and certification records
  • Actively participate in the facility’s Retention Task Force to continually improve onboarding processes
  • Participate in the on-call rotation
  • Record and monitor all progress of residents and communicate with physicians according to facility policies
  • Make sure that procedures for storage and control of medication and supplies are being followed
  • Monitor staff compliance to all State and Federal requirements including blood borne pathogens, hazardous materials, infection control, and fire safety

Qualifications:

  • Current state Licensed Practical Nurse license required
  • Prior supervisory experience in a long-term care or skilled nursing facility preferred

Working Conditions:

  • Medical environment
  • May require standing and walking for up to 75% of the time
  • Required to use assistance when attempting to lift or carry objects over 25 lbs.
