Job Description

As the Consolidations Accountant, you will be responsible for preparing accounting records, financial statements, and other financial reports. Ideally, you will generate high quality, innovative solutions and exercise creative problem solving; you will be greatly detail-oriented, possess strong organization and multitasking skills, and perform successfully in a team environment. In this administrative position, you will work under the supervision of the Controller.

General Responsibilities:

Consolidation

  • Financial Statements – emphasis on timely and accurate preparation and analysis of moderately-complex monthly financial statements in accordance with GAAP including reporting package, intercompany and consolidation activity
  • Review basic financial statements and reports for accuracy
  • Prepare consolidation entries

Account Reconciliations

  • Reconcile accounts and/or assist others with identifying and researching reconciling items
  • Identify risk and opportunities and assesses reasonableness of balances
  • Recognize impact of intercompany transactions and related elimination process; coordinates resolution of issues
  • Integrate general accounting functions with Sage 100 software - responsible for postings to the general ledger including journal entries, and reconciling accounts monthly including responsibility for accurate month end and year end closing procedures

Other Duties

  • Cross-training required for other accounting department duties with the willingness to perform various duties as assigned
  • Assistance with reporting to investors/management
  • Work closely with external auditors and tax preparers
  • Work well under pressure with dependability, flexibility and have the attitude of a team player
  • Prioritize and perform multiple functions under time pressure and deadlines with accuracy while maintaining a positive disposition

Requirements

  • 2 years of accounting experience required
  • Knowledge of generally accepted accounting practices and principles
  • Knowledge of consolidations accounting
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance or accounting preferred
  • Experience in SAGE accounting software preferred

Working Environment:

  • General office environment
  • This position may require standing and walking for up to 10% of the time
  • Work is generally performed within an office environment with standard office equipment available
  • The employee is required to use assistance when attempting to assist, lift or carry objects over 25 pounds
