Job Description

As the Communications and Community Relations Intern, you will be responsible for increasing Avita Senior Living at Rolling Hills’ brand awareness while driving community census. You will work closely with the Communications Coordinator at our service company – Axiom Healthcare Services, and with the Executive Director of Avita Senior Living at Rolling Hills. This position is also responsible to maintaining metrics on census in comparison to established goals. The Communications and Community Relations Intern reports to the Executive Director.

Day to Day Responsibilities:

  • Represent the community in the overall market territory to raise brand awareness
  • Work with the Executive Director, Director of Nursing, Social Worker, ILEE Champ and Axiom’s Communications Coordinator to ensure clear communication
  • Conduct community tours
  • Actively develop relationships with current and potential residents and families, following potential residents through the process until they become a part of the community
  • Update social media platforms such as Facebook and LinkedIN with content relevant to daily happenings at the community
  • Respond to inquiry emails from the website
  • Monitor and respond to online reviews on various websites

 General Responsibilities:

  • Develop, implement and monitor monthly progress of the communities Census Team using the Census Growth plan to: Increase Qualified Referrals and Increase the conversion of QRs to the community
  • Maintain daily, weekly, and monthly metrics on census (sales calls, inquiries, admission, discharges, and referral sources) with comparisons to established business development goals
  • Maintain a “Collateral Catalog” (brochure, virtual tours, giveaways, etc.) and distribute accordingly
  • Manage and maintain the community website
  • Use your creativity to create digital content that will benefit community census
  • Other duties as required



The ideal candidate would be an energetic, extraverted person who is comfortable meeting and speaking to new people. Of paramount importance is the ability to quickly develop a congenial relationship with potential customers and demonstrate a person-centered problem-solving approach. The candidate for this position must be an organized and detail-oriented team player.


Working Conditions:

  • Medical environment in an assisted living community
  • May require standing up or walking for up to 70% of the time
  • Required to use assistance when attempting to assist, life or carry objects over 25 lbs
