The Opportunity
Come join IGN as an Associate Guides Editor, Trends! Our team is seeking a new member who can support IGN's guide team by crafting coverage of popular and trending games. IGN’s editorial team is made up of all kinds of people that share a common love of games, TV, movies, comics, tech, and all things geeky.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with a team to build detailed guides for games with large player bases, from big open-world games to games with ongoing updates of all sorts that need coverage.
- Work closely with freelancers and organize projects with lots of moving parts that need to be tracked.
- Collaborate with freelancers and teammates to make sure games with updates are covered expeditiously on nights and weekends.
- Collaborate with our Business Intelligence team to track metrics and trends.
- Play and capture a variety of games to be an authority in the most popular games of the moment.
- Investigate new coverage opportunities with our core SEO team to pitch unique angles and create daily (and long term) content plans around them.
- Work with our editorial, social, and video teams on ways to frame and present our game help content in various formats.
- Side quests include participating in the creation of all IGN content, including reviews, news, previews, and appearances on shows and podcasts.
Job Qualifications
- You have published video game strategy guide work and have experience planning, creating, and editing text and/or video content with various toolsets, such as Wikimedia or WordPress platforms, YouTube, or social media.
- You have experience working SEO terms and phrases naturally into your work so it reads well for humans (and one very particular robot).
- You have experience editing others’ work for clarity and optimization in accordance with a style guide.
- You have experience using tools that track trending terms, including Google Trends and SEO tools.
Work Environment:
- Work Schedule: 40 hours per week, M-F. On rare occasions, there may be an expectation for this role to work outside of a standard working schedule after hours or on weekends, to support our team’s coverage of major game launches or other big events.
- Travel Requirements: No travel is required for this role.
- Physical Requirements: There are no physical requirements for this role.
- Work Model: For applicants who reside in or around Los Angeles or New York, there may be a requirement to go into our offices 1-2 days per week. For others located in different areas around the world, this position will be remote.
