The Opportunity

We are seeking a highly experienced and dynamic Director of Site Reliability Engineering to lead our organization's technical infrastructure team. The Director will oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of our technical infrastructure to ensure reliability, scalability, and security. This role requires a strategic thinker with exceptional leadership skills who can drive innovation and efficiency across our infrastructure operations.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Strategic Leadership:
    • Develop and execute the strategic vision for the organization's technical infrastructure in alignment with business objectives.
    • Provide leadership and guidance to the technical infrastructure team, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and excellence.
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to optimize infrastructure performance, reliability, and cost-effectiveness.
  2. Infrastructure Design and Implementation:
    • Lead the design and implementation of scalable, high-performance technical infrastructure solutions to support the organization's growth and evolving business needs.
    • Evaluate emerging technologies and trends to identify opportunities for innovation and optimization within the infrastructure landscape.
    • Ensure that infrastructure designs adhere to industry best practices and compliance standards.
  3. Operational Management:
    • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the technical infrastructure, including monitoring, maintenance, and troubleshooting activities.
    • Establish and enforce operational policies, procedures, and standards to ensure the reliability, security, and availability of infrastructure services.
    • Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans to minimize service disruptions and mitigate risks.
  4. Team Development and Management:
    • Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing site reliability team, fostering professional growth and skills development.
    • Provide coaching and feedback to team members to enhance their performance and productivity.
    • Foster a collaborative and inclusive team culture that values diversity and promotes employee engagement.
  5. Stakeholder Engagement:
    • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including IT, engineering, and business units, to understand infrastructure requirements and priorities.
    • Communicate effectively with executive leadership and key stakeholders to provide updates on infrastructure initiatives, performance, and challenges.
    • Build strong relationships with external vendors and partners to leverage their expertise and resources as needed.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • Proven experience (8+ years) in technical infrastructure management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • In-depth knowledge of cloud computing technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and infrastructure-as-code principles.
  • Strong understanding of networking, virtualization, storage, and security technologies.
  • Experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and automation tools (e.g., Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins).
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • Relevant certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect, CISSP) preferred.

Salary Disclosure: Ziff Davis provides a range for the base pay. Factors that may be used to determine your actual pay may include your specific job related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. The base pay for this position ranges from $180,000 to $210,000, plus incentive compensation (for eligible roles only), 401K with company match, medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, short and long-term disability, and a flexible time off policy.
