Social Media Specialist, Custom Content - IGN

IGN is looking for a Social Media Specialist to lead its social media monetization strategy and sponsored content output across social platforms. This role will be responsible for coming up with original social-focused content ideas proactively and in response to client briefs, as well as matching clients to existing opportunities available for sponsorship during the pre-sale phase. The Social Custom Content Specialist will also collaborate with the production team in post-sale to help oversee the content coming to life, publishing it, and reinforcing best practices throughout. The successful candidate must be comfortable balancing client and audience needs alongside production considerations for delivering best in class creative ideas that we pitch and create.


The Social Custom Content Specialist sits within IGN’s global creative solutions team which has offices in LA, New York, San Francisco, London, and Sydney. The team is responsible for conceptualizing  and delivering custom campaigns for IGN’s advertisers: these can include any combination of bespoke ad design, branded content, content sponsorship, events and product launches that run across multiple platforms including as well as its social profiles such as Twitter, Snapchat, Instagram, TikTok and Facebook.


Success in this role will be driven by collaboration. The Social Custom Content Specialist will

work closely with our core social media team to gain insight into what is performing well organically and what content is coming up, and feeding that back to the wider creative solutions and sales teams to help inform the pitches and content we are putting out.

        Participating in brainstorms to generate social-first ideas to generate ideas that excite our clients and our audience

        Ideating and developing the social components of larger campaigns that span social media, YouTube, OTT,, and beyond

        This includes ensuring ideas meet client and brief KPIs while driving audience engagement

        In collaboration with the production team, providing guidance on lead times and production budgets required to execute on original ideas

        Where necessary, revising ideas based on client or internal feedback

        Providing write-ups of your ideas that the creative strategy teams can craft a campaign narrative around

        Briefing internal sales and production teams on the ‘why’ behind original ideas

        Providing talent recommendations where applicable

        Providing feedback and direction on proposed treatments during pre-production

        Coordinating and executing our promotional strategy for custom social content, including publishing direct to relevant platforms

        Providing clear, direct, actionable feedback on internal screeners of custom social content

        Reviewing and understanding how social content performed and allowing that to feed into best practices for future content

        In collaboration with the core social and production team, developing and documenting best practices, and championing those throughout the ideation and execution stages

        Collaborate with Head of Social and core social team on creative and strategic executions

        Partnering with the core social team and attending daily meetings to understand their content roadmap and broadcasting that to the wider sales and creative solutions teams

        Ensuring the IGN voice carries through in all of the custom social content we create


The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:


        Passion for IGN, its content and its subject matter

        Notable experience creating - or overseeing the creation of - content made for social media that resonates with people

        A deep understanding of the social media landscape and the nuances of the different platforms IGN is on (this includes Twitter, TikTok, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat among others)

        Experience generating big and small social content ideas as well as grasping what it take to bring them to life

        A clear understanding of the social content production process

        An understanding of the RFP process and how to articulate ideas in a client-friendly manner

        A collaborative mindset, especially as it relates to to problem solving and generating ideas

        An openness to implement and evolve processes and best practices

        An ability to respond to and action feedback on their ideas and work from internal and external stakeholders

        Experience in evaluating content performance and using that data to inform future decisions

        Proven experience working effectively with cross-functional teams (technical and non technical) and all levels of management (internally and externally)
