Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of automated software testing, data analysis, and cybersecurity solutions for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking a DevSecOps Intern to be based in our Mt. Laurel office. This DevSecOps Engineer will work with a fast-paced team of mission-focused engineers to solve some of the Navy’s toughest challenges. Initiative, creativity, reliability, and efficient teamwork will be required to successfully deliver innovative solutions in this dynamic customer space.
Overview:
As a DevSecOps Intern at IDT, you will have the chance to work with cutting-edge tools and processes that ensure security, efficiency, and innovation in software development. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams and contribute to building and improving our Secured Software Supply Chain (S3C) system. You’ll develop automation tools, support secure software deployment, and work on various security-related tasks across the DevSecOps lifecycle.
This internship provides the opportunity to expand your technical skills in development, security, and operations while playing a part in ensuring the security of mission-critical systems.

All applicants must be able to obtain/maintain an active U.S. Security Clearance.
Responsibilities Include:
- Support security automation efforts, including static code analysis and security scanning for containers.
- Help integrate security checks into Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines to ensure secure software development.
- Collaborate with the team to enhance infrastructure security, including cloud and containerized environments.
- Participate in identifying and mitigating security vulnerabilities in development environments.
- Work with internal teams to ensure compliance with relevant security standards and regulations.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of DevSecOps practices and processes.

Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in and undergraduate or post graduate degree program with a major in software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, electrical engineering, data science, cyber security, mathematics, or aeronautical engineering
Required skills:
- Familiarity with programming languages like Python, JavaScript, or Shell scripting.
- Basic understanding of containerization technologies (Docker, podman) and virtualization environments (e.g., VMware).
- Interest in security concepts, automation, and CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and eagerness to learn.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, team environment.
Preferred skills:
- Exposure to Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools (Ansible, Puppet) and security testing tools (SAST, DAST).
- Familiarity with DevSecOps and CI/CD practices.
