Background Information:
Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of cutting-edge cloud-based integration, automated testing and data analysis for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to be based in our Arlington, VA office. Leveraging advanced software automation, model-based systems engineering (MBSE), and AI-driven capabilities, IDT accelerates capability development, enhances operational readiness, and reduces lifecycle costs for the Department of Defense. The company is dedicated to transforming defense systems through innovation, efficiency, and mission-critical results.
Overview:
The CFO will serve as a strategic visionary, overseeing all financial aspects at IDT to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations while driving operational excellence and long-term growth. This role encompasses managing accounting, budgeting, cash flow, timekeeping, expense reports, leave programs, payroll, taxes, and 401K plans, ensuring accuracy and strict adherence to DCAA, CAS, FAR, and GAAP standards and regulations. The CFO will lead critical initiatives, including overseeing indirect rates, banking, and implementing policies to optimize compliance and financial performance. Budgeting, forecasting, and cash management will also be pivotal, requiring precision and timeliness to align financial strategy with organizational goals. Additionally, the CFO will enhance financial reporting, internal controls, and processes while collaborating with project managers and stakeholders to provide data-driven insights and forward-thinking strategies. As a key member of the IDT Leadership Team and reporting directly to the CEO, the CFO will play a critical role in shaping our financial strategy and ensuring its stability, growth, and compliance.
Qualified applicants must have DoD Contracting experience, including leading and managing large financial operations or portfolios.
All applicants must be able to obtain/maintain an active U.S. Security Clearance.
Hybrid position. Must be able to be on-site 2-3 days per week or as needed.
Responsibilities Include:
Leadership & Strategy
- Collaborate with executive leadership to align financial strategy with organizational goals.
- Establish and maintain financial frameworks and operational protocols to drive accountability and align with strategic objectives.
- Lead and mentor the finance & accounting team, promoting accountability and development.
Financial Operations & Compliance
- Direct all accounting functions including Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, General Ledger, indirect rates and oversee DCAA compliance, including audits and submissions.
- Provide timely and accurate financial reporting and insights, develop budgets and forecasts, and support long-term planning.
- Ensure revenue recognition aligns with GAAP; oversee payroll, taxes, 401K compliance, cash management, banking, time keeping, and business insurance all incompliance with federal and state requirements
- Manage risk by maintaining insurance coverage and implementing internal controls.
Program Finance & Reporting
- Partner with Project Managers for tracking, customer reporting, and Estimates to Complete (EACs).
- Oversee monthly revenue forecasting, labor and non-labor forecasting, labor resource analyses, support annual revenue forecasting, and long-range planning.
Process Optimization
- Oversee efficiency of financial processes in Deltek Cost Point.
- Enhance financial policies for operational efficiency and compliance, training project teams as needed.
- Coordinate with project teams and stakeholders to allocate resources effectively and support project objectives.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field; Master’s degree or CPA preferred.
- 15+ years of finance experience, including at least 10 years in a senior financial management role, including within the DoD contracting sector
Required Skills:
- In-depth understanding of DoD contracting compliance regulations, including DCAA audits and submissions as well as CAS.
- Experience with program finance, accounting management, and forecasting for a government contractor.
- Experience with timekeeping, expense reports, and leave management.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP compliance, revenue recognition, and indirect rates.
- Excellent financial modeling, budgeting, and forecasting skills.
- Strong leadership and communication skills, with experience presenting to senior management.
- Proficiency in financial software and systems; Deltek/Costpoint preferred
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office applications
- Ability to travel up to 10%
Preferred Skills:
- CPA, CMA, or other relevant professional certification
