Background Information:
Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of automated software testing, data analysis, and cybersecurity solutions for complex, mission-critical systems for the US Department of Defense (DOD) and commercial customers, is seeking a Senior IT Engineer be based in our Arlington, VA office. The Sr. IT Engineer will work with senior leadership and a fast-paced team of mission-focused engineers to solve some of our customer’s toughest challenges. Initiative, creativity, reliability, and efficient teamwork will be required to successfully deliver innovative solutions in this dynamic customer space.
Overview:
IDT is seeking a Senior IT Engineer that will design, deploy, and maintain Linux and Windows based computing systems intended to support virtualized testing of Naval tactical systems such as Aegis, SSDS, E-2D Hawkeye, etc. Responsibilities will focus on the development of solutions that further IDT’s goals of leveraging virtualization to deliver capability to the warfighter faster. This is an onsite role based out of our Arlington, VA office.
All applicants must currently possess an active U.S. Security Clearance.
Responsibilities Include:
- Interact with technical team members from multiple organizations in a team environment
- Work closely with the Program Manager and Chief Engineer to define top level requirements that meet customer needs
- Contribute to technical roadmap and strategic plan development
- Lead topic identification and proposal development to capture technology development contracts
- Lead a team to perform requirements analysis, translating business need into IT resource specifications with program cost and schedule constraints
- Perform trade studies and risk analysis of network and computing system architectures
- Lead identification for applications of emerging technologies and architectures including evaluation of cloud operations platforms such as cloud IaaS, PaaS, SaaS
- Define solution verification and validation plans
- Work closely with internal and external stakeholders to insure Cyber accreditation with various Authorizing Officials (ie… NAO, DCSA, etc..) using the RMF process.
- Ensure virtual servers and virtual desktops are provisioned per specifications
- Lead test, evaluation and deployment efforts including planning, design, and implementation of releases, upgrades, and changes to server storage and virtualization systems along with the productivity tools that support the testing and production of those systems
- Execute structured administrative and operational process improvement efforts
- Lead administration and lifecycle management of hypervisors, automation and orchestration software, enterprise virtual Systems and networks
- Structure capacity planning, workload modeling, prediction, performance monitoring, troubleshooting and tuning efforts to ensure stable performance of the virtualization environments
Minimum Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or relevant field of Engineering. Master’s degree highly desired.
- 7+ years of experience in a relevant technology field required
Required Skills:
- Demonstrated ability to lead small teams developing IT architectures and systems
- Experience with server and/or desktop virtualization
- Extensive experience with Operating System (Microsoft Windows, Linux) configuration and administration
- Virtualization Infrastructure Experience with VMware or similar virtualization tools
- Networking experience – TCP/IP, DNS, NetBIOS, switching, routing, VLANs
- High degree of competence in C, Bash, and Shell
- Experience with container technologies such as Docker
- Experience with NFS, iSCSI, FTP, SSH, SCP, LDAP, BASH, IP, TCP, UDP, NTP, DNS, DHCP
- Demonstrated ability to shift from one project to another in an agile work environment
- Ability to effectively communicate technical approaches and solutions to customers
- Ability to capture technical approaches, designs, block diagrams, algorithms, and implementations in written and graphical form
- Ability to travel approximately 10%
- Able to work onsite in Arlington, VA
Preferred Skills:
- Enterprise system administrator expertise with at least one operating system
- Experience with at least one public cloud environment, such as Amazon Web Services or MicroSoft Azure
- Proficiency in automation scripts, tools and environments (ex. Python, Jenkins)
- Networking protocol experience (802.11, TCP, UDP, ICMP)
- Ansible, Chef, Salt, or Puppet experience
- Experience in programing languages such as Java, C++, or JavaScript
- VMWare certifications or equivalent is a plus
- Proposal development experience
