Background Information:
Innovative Defense Technologies (IDT), provider of automated software testing, data analysis, and cybersecurity solutions for complex, mission-critical systems in the US Department of Defense (DOD), is seeking an Associate Contracts Specialist to be based in our Arlington office.   
 
Overview: 
IDT is seeking an Associate Contracts Specialist to be a key partner in the growth of our business. This individual will provide contracts administrative support for multiple contracts. This includes routing contractual documents for review, approval, and submittal in accordance with company policies and procedures, preparing Non-Disclosure Agreements, maintaining contracts records, supporting proposals, contract closeout, and other cradle to grave contracts activities. This position will be based in our Arlington, VA office as part of the Finance Team and reports to the Director of Contracts.  
 
The successful candidate for this position will have an interest in government contracting as well as a desire to support, learn, and grow in the Contracts Administration field. This person should possess a willingness to learn, ability to take initiative, and desire to grow within the Company. We are seeking someone who possesses an optimistic attitude, proven analytical business acumen, and can demonstrate excellent communicative, administrative, and organizational skills. A successful individual in this role will have the chance to learn and grow within the Contracts Department.  
 
All applicants must be able to obtain/maintain an active U.S. Security Clearance. 
 
Responsibilities: 
  • Document preparation/editing: leading the routing and tracking of contractual materials for distribution. Review and approve materials in-house and outside the organization.  
  • Submit contractual documents, such as Contract Data Requirements Lists (CDRLs). 
  • Conduct correspondence between IDT, customer contracts organizations, and subcontractors. 
  • Track and communicate the status of open contractual items and advise on remaining requirements for completion. 
  • Support new business proposals as part of the Contracts team. 
  • Maintain audit-ready contract and subcontract files and submit required contractual and associated subcontract documents. 
  • Other duties as assigned 
Minimum Required Qualifications: 
  • BA/BS Degree, or equivalent relevant experience 
Required Skills and Competencies: 
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills 
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to convey information clearly and concisely 
  • Must have/be: a self-starter, ability to learn quickly, support multiple tasks simultaneously and manage time 
  • Working knowledge of MS Office 365 applications, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook 
  • Ability to take initiative and work productively, both independently and as a part of a team
  • Customer service mindset with the ability to work with varying seniority levels, including Contracts department staff, program managers, and external partners
  • High accountability to self and others and a solid work ethic 
  • Strong analytical skills and solution-focused and team-oriented mindset

Preferred Skills: 
  • Knowledge of government contracting and familiarity with FAR, and DFARS 
  • Familiarity with CMBOK (Contract Management Body of Knowledge) and government contracting contractor best practices 
  • Working knowledge of Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint and Adobe 
  • Prior experience in roles such as customer service, as an Assistant Contracts Administrator, Office Manager, Business Manager or other relevant administrative support role 
  • DocuSign, and government and prime contractor portals on the internet.
