Role Mission: The Child Nutrition Program (CNP) Application Analyst enhances, administers, and supports CNP systems and infrastructure; they analyze departmental data to provide valuable insights. This position communicates directly with stakeholders to improve data accuracy, data transparency, data integrity, and builds custom tools to streamline and automate business processes. Other duties include but are not limited to: develop ad-hoc reports, improve existing (and develop new) data models to capture and organize data efficiently, identify inefficient business processes and implement scalable solutions, and attend relevant professional development trainings. This position reports to the CNP Applications Manager

This position has no supervisory responsibilities

 

Location:

This is a full-time (remote/on-site) position based in Texas with preference given to candidates who live in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin (Midland/Odessa), Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Tarrant County (Fort Worth), or who are willing to relocate. 

 

Travel Expectations:

Requirement to travel up to 30% of the time during the school year to:
- provide in-person support
- work on team projects
- attend professional development and/or meetings

 

What You’ll Do – Accountabilities

 

Essential Duties:

-Develop and maintain an inventory of data sources/data sets and their lifecycle, that are used by the department 5%
-Analyze business needs and design/develop/maintain departmental reports that improve visibility and increase data driven decision making 20%
-Develop and maintain data exports 5%
-Analyze business needs and design/develop/maintain business tools to streamline business processes 20%
-Analyze business needs and design/develop/maintain process automations to increase efficiency 20%
-Fulfill ad-hoc reporting requests 5%
-Collaborate with stakeholders to develop training materials for tools/reports built 10%
-Develop and maintain documentation on Reports, Business Tools, Automations 15%

 

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

-Participate in the development of the Beginning of Year Plan for CNP Systems and apply previous year experience to improve the plan and provide support to new teams during first week of school
-Maintain a positive and professional attitude toward customers
-Help out conducting inventory audits at warehouse
-Help out providing customer support during peak season

 

What You Bring – Competencies

 

Knowledge and Skills:

-Strong analytical and quantitative skills with demonstrated ability of converting raw data into meaningful analysis and recommendations
-Technical expertise regarding data models, database design development, data mining and segmentation techniques
-Expert knowledge of Microsoft Office suite applications
-Working knowledge of Microsoft Power Platform suite tools
-Working knowledge of Relational Database Management Systems (RDBMS); SQL (MS SQL preferred) and T-SQL
-Excellent problem solving, adaptability and flexibility skills
-Working knowledge and experience developing scripts using a general-purpose programming language such as Python, Java, Pearl, etc.
-Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills
-Business awareness and experience with hierarchical management
-Ability to work effectively with internal and external stakeholders and demonstrate emotional awareness
-Strong organization, communication, and interpersonal skills
-Able to handle stress well and meet time sensitive deadlines
-Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required

 

Required experience:

-Bachelor’s degree in STEM field required
-3 or more years experience in data analytics preferred
-3 or more years experience working with a general-purpose programming language preferred 

 

Preferred experience:

-Any of the following certifications are preferred: MS DP-500, MS PL-300, MS PL-100, MS PL-400
-Preferred experience working in central office or headquarters supporting multiple sites, locations and regions with different needs and requirements.

 

Physical Requirements:

-This is a sedentary position. Must be able to sit at a computer for the majority of the day
-When visiting schools/cafeterias/warehouses you will need to be active
-Bending, crawling, stooping, standing, vision, lifting and walking
-The ability to walk while carrying up to 20 pounds

Compensation & Benefits:

Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $68,886 and $78,908, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for performance pay based on organizational performance and goal attainment.
