Regional VP of Academics

 

Mission:

The Regional Vice President (VP) of Academics is responsible for driving academic excellence across all schools within the region by ensuring high-quality instruction, strong leadership development, and innovative programming that supports IDEA’s mission of college readiness for all scholars. The Regional VP of Academics oversees regional academic strategy, instructional leadership, professional development, and program implementation to ensure that every student is on track to and through college. This leader manages a high-performing team of directors responsible for leader development, academic content areas, early childhood education, college readiness, and program innovation.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Director of Leader Development
  • Directors of Academics (ELA, Early Childhood Education, College Readiness)
  • Director of Academics - Program Innovation (overseeing Athletics, Electives, Camp Rio, Afterschool programs and 21st Century programs)
  • Reports directly to the Area Superintendent.


Location: This is a full-time hybrid (remote/on-site) position located in the RGV. Preference will be given to candidates who live in the region, or who are willing to relocate.

 

Travel Expectations:

This position requires up to 40% travel across the assigned region for campus visits, leadership development sessions, regional meetings, and special projects

 

What You’ll Do – Accountabilities

Essential Duties:

  • Lead the development and execution of a regional academic vision aligned with IDEA’s organizational goals and performance metrics.
  • Supervise, coach, and evaluate regional academic directors to ensure alignment, excellence, and leadership growth
  • Monitor academic data to identify trends, strengths, and gaps; implement data-driven strategies for improvement across campuses
  • Support principals and instructional leaders in improving teaching quality, curriculum implementation, and student outcomes.
  • Support principals and instructional leaders in improving teaching quality, curriculum implementation, and student outcomes.
  • Collaborate with regional operations and talent teams to ensure effective alignment between academics, staffing, and resources.
  • Plan and coordinate professional development across the region including coaching academy and teacher collaboration.

 

 

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Oversee innovative programming (Athletics, Camp Rio, 21st Century) to ensure enrichment experiences align with IDEA’s mission and contribute to student growt
  • Represent the region in network-level academic strategy sessions and cross-functional collaboration meetings
  • Lead professional development sessions for school and regional leaders
  • Develop and manage regional academic budgets in collaboration with finance and regional support team.
  • Cultivate a positive and inclusive culture aligned with IDEA’s Core Values.
  • Oversee the revenue and expenditures for Camp Rio to ensure financial stability and aligned spending.

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in education or related field.
  • Minimum of 7 years of educational leadership experience, including campus and regional or district-level leadership.
  • Demonstrated success in improving student achievement and developing high-performing teams.

 

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or related field.
  • Experience as a principal, regional director, or executive leader within a high-performing charter network or district.
  • Familiarity with IDEA’s academic model and Core Values.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of sitting and working on a computer
  • Ability to travel frequently by car to campuses across the region.
  • Ability to travel by plane for professional development and conferences.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally.

 

What We Offer:


Compensation & Benefits:

Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $112,200 and $134,700, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for performance pay based on organizational performance and goal attainment.
