Mission:

The Director of Family Engagement leads the strategic vision of the organization to retain all students and families across all states IDEA operates in. As the Director, you will have the opportunity to bring ides and improvements to the way we engage with our families ensuring inclusivity and equity. Research in new communities and assessing data with current families will help make the program better and ensure our mission to serve all students is coming to fruition on our campuses. Through this work, IDEA can achieve the goal of 100% of our students are accepted and matriculate to college. Data for both leavers and persisters is collected and analyzed for trends that are then used to set benchmarks, drive strategy, and ultimately hit our ambitious persistence goals.

 

The Director position will manage 2 direct reports: Manager of New Family Engagement and Student Performance and Advocacy System Admin. This is a full-time position based in (Texas) with preference given to candidates who live in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin (Midland/Odessa), Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Tarrant County (Fort Worth). Travel expectations for this position will be approximately 40% of the time to visit our states, regions and schools.

Location:

This is a full-time hybrid (remote/on-site) position based in Texas with preference given to candidates who live in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin (Midland/Odessa), Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Tarrant County (Fort Worth), or who are willing to relocate.

 

Travel Expectations:    

  • Up to 40% of the time during the busiest parts of the year.
  • This role requires 30% travel to campuses across multiple regions.
  • This role works remotely when not traveling and visiting campuses. 

 

What You’ll Do – Accountabilities

 

Essential Duties:

  • Lead the vision creation, implementation and coaching of Organizational Goal of Overall and New Student Persistence across 4 states, 11 regions and 100,000 students and families 
  • Leads vision, management and analysis of data for family engagement (persistence) and student information across 4 states to ensure accuracy for internal use and within guidelines of state reporting per state
  • Leads the vision, implementation and management of Title 1 compliance and structures across 4 states and 11 regions. 
  • Leads and Manages Family Engagement team consisting of New Family Engagement Manager and Title 1 Statewide manager 
  • Designs, Owns and Executes training on Family engagement, Persistence and Data auditing across national, regional and campus staffing levels to ensure cross functional collaboration and accountability 
  • Leads cross functional HQ teams to reach ambitious organizational goals and maintains IDEAs compliance within state and federal guidelines as it pertains to family engagement from recruitment/enrollment through matriculation to college 
  • Co-owns vision, strategy and implementation of counselor, social worker and SSA retention for all school based team members 

 

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Develop comprehensive strategies and plans to ensure Title 1 compliance within the charter school. Communicate these strategies effectively to school leadership, staff, parents, and stakeholders.
     
  • Maintains updates on federal and state regulations related to Title 1 funding and compliance. Interpret and apply regulations to ensure the charter school remains in compliance with all requirements.
  • Coordinates with the Business and Budget office team to allocate Title 1 funds appropriately, ensuring compliance with budgetary guidelines and regulations
  • Leading the revision of the vision and strategy to meet the overall and new student persistence goal.
  • Partner with every HQ department and each region to execute persistence vision and strategy for IDEA Public Schools. This includes the student information system team, the operations team, the marketing and communications team, enrollment team, schools team.
  • Design high quality onboarding tools that prepare campus staff to drive toward students Persistence.
  • Responsible for setting up systems and processes for training across network
  • Cultivate business partnerships with Operations team (Enrollment team) to re-envision the new family and student experience from recruitment through the first year at IDEA.
  • Be responsible to ensure the vision and strategy is being executed across all teams (Operations, Schools, College Success, Marketing, Communication and Student Information Systems) at all schools across states and regions through partnerships with Vice Presidents of Schools and Regional Executive Directors.
  • Lead the development of the improvement plan to ensure 100% of IDEA schools across all states are following state regulations
    Provide leadership and guidance to campus staff and data administrators in implementing best practices for data management, including data collection, validation, storage, and reporting
  • Design and maintain dashboards, reports, and data visualization tools to provide real-time insights into student persistence metrics, trends, and outcomes
  • Lead efforts to ensure the accuracy, completeness, and timeliness of student data across all systems and platforms, including student information systems (SIS)

Additional Skills:

  • Strong computer literacy that includes an understanding of Microsoft Office Suite (i.e., Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Strong mathematical skills and the ability to understand and interpret data (charts, graphs, etc.).
  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent oral, written, and presentation skills. 

 

Required experience:

  • Minimum college degree,
  • Minimum 5+ years managing others 

 

Preferred experience:

  • Masters preferred in Education, Organizational Leadership or similar
  • School experience or similar setting for engaging with families

     

Physical Requirements:

  • This is a sedentary positions
  • The ability to move safely over uneven terrain or in confined spaces
  • The ability to see and respond to dangerous situations

Compensation & Benefits:

Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $108,100 and $128,600, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for performance pay based on organizational performance and goal attainment.
