Medical Plan Administrator
Mission:
To effectively develop IDEA’s Team & Family, the Talent Development Training Manager will help create and execute cross-team alignment of training systems, logistics, and communication that are used by all IDEA staff. They are an expert at planning and executing training logistics, and they provide resources, training, and coaching to staff responsible for the execution of training in all seven IDEA Texas regions.

This is a full-time remote position for Texas with preference given to candidates who live in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin (Midland/Odessa), Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Tarrant County (Fort Worth).
Travel Expectations:
Some travel is required and expected.
What You’ll Do – Accountabilities
Essential Duties:
- Administer IDEA’s medical plans and support employees by managing daily processes such as qualifying life events (QLEs), National Medical Support Notices (NMSNs), and resolution of complex employee inquiries through the ticket management system.
- Partner with Benefits Analyst and carriers to ensure accurate premium deductions, monthly billing reconciliation, and issuance of credits or charges; investigate shortages and overages to identify root causes and implement corrective actions.
- Collaborate with the HR Shared Services team to notify employees on leave about premium payment responsibilities, facilitate collection of premiums, and ensure accounts remain current throughout the leave period.
- Maintain, audit, and validate benefits data across systems to ensure accuracy in eligibility, payroll deductions, and billing; proactively address discrepancies and support data integrity efforts.
- Serve as the primary liaison with carriers and the broker to ensure compliance with ACA, ERISA, COBRA, HIPAA, and state regulations; maintain required documentation and support audits and filings.
- Support the Benefits Analyst with trend analysis, utilization tracking, and reporting; provide data insights that inform benefit strategy, cost management, and leadership decision-making.

Required Education & Experience:
- Bachelor's degree in human resource management or related field, and three to five years of related benefits or employee benefits administration experience.
- Knowledge of all pertinent federal and state regulations, filing and compliance requirements, both adopted and pending, affecting employee benefits programs, including the ACA, ERISA, and COBRA.
Preferred Education and Experience:
- SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP and CEBS professional designations preferred
- Payroll Processing or Accounting Experience preferred.
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to sit for extended periods of time without being able to leave the work area.
- Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Must be able to lift and carry or otherwise move 15 pounds (occasionally)
What We Offer:
Compensation & Benefits:
Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $58,400 and $67,200, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for performance pay based on organizational performance and goal attainment.
