NATIONAL ASSESSMENT ASSOCIATE

CURRICULUM, INSTRUCTION, AND ASSESSMENT

 

Role Mission: The role of the Assessment Associate is to support in the maintenance of district assessment systems and programs that enable district users, including teachers and school leaders, to have real-time, actionable information to make data-driven decisions for students.  This includes building expertise of all testing systems, designing trainings to support assessment developers in the use of the assessment systems, and designing training and providing support for end users at the campus level.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities: 

  • No direct reports 
  • Must be able to lead and influence others where no direct reporting exists

Location: This is a full-time, year-round position based in Texas, with preference given to candidates that live in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin (Midland/Odessa), Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, or Tarrant County (Fort Worth), or who are willing to relocate.

Travel Expectations: Occasional statewide travel to IDEA schools across Texas. Possible interstate travel to IDEA schools in Florida, Louisiana, and/or Ohio.

 

What You’ll Do – Accountabilities

 

Essential Duties:

100% of students and teachers have access to the highest quality district assessments to result in student data that allows leaders to make actionable decisions.  

  • Train curriculum managers on the use of their state’s district test management system throughout the school year to ensure small-scale and large-scale district assessment data entry is accurate and entered by deadlines stated in district assessment process map.   
  • Train testing coordinators on the use of their state’s district test management system to ensure student and teacher rosters are correct, and applicable accommodations are available for eligible students during online testing.
  • Create and deliver training materials and resources for testing coordinators to turn around and train teachers and other school instructional staff on the use of their state’s district test management system to administer tests to students.
  • Complete district assessment data audit process and reach out to appropriate curriculum managers to ensure 100% of test data will be available to end users.

 100% of IDEA Public Schools stakeholders have access to the appropriate district and state testing systems to make data-driven instructional decisions.

  • Ensure 100% of school, regional and district users will have appropriate job-related access to the district test management system for their state by the first thirty days of school.   
  • Ensure 100% of testing coordinators will have access to their state’s district test management system within 48 business hours of their designation to that role.
  • Train testing coordinators yearly on the use of their state’s Test Information Distribution Engine (TIDE) and other state testing platforms, such as the Centralized Reporting System (CRS), as assigned. 
  • Create training materials on district test management systems for principals and regional staff to access student test data/reports. 

 

100% of designated district and state assessment systems have live, accurate data and are prepared for growth each school year.

  • Execute the yearly rollover and updating of assigned district and state test management systems to prepare for the following school year.
  • Manage the day-to-day operations of designated district and state test management systems to ensure 100% of users have access to data.  
  •  Maintain the data within the district and state test management systems as it pertains to students, users, and sites.  
  • Once a month, inactivate user accounts for staff who have left the organization. 
  • Post the district-level summary reports for state tests in the Hub site for district stakeholder access.  
  • Build strong business partnerships with district Student Information Systems team, Research & Analysis team, Software Development team, district curriculum managers and other district stakeholders to maintain accurate student and staff data across systems. 
  •  Build strong business partnerships with external vendors who provide district testing systems.

 100% of testing coordinators have the appropriate paper testing materials by the designated deadlines.

  • Execute the tasks involved in the print process for applicable paper large-scale district assessments to meet district deadlines of availability, which includes meeting with third-party print vendors.   
  • Understand test security protocols and administration guidelines for state, national/standardized and district assessments.  
  • Support the district Assessment Team in paper test materials ordering, handling, management and shipment for assigned district and state testing programs. 

 

 Commitment to high-quality customer service 100% of the time.

  • 24-hour (1 business day) response rate for Zendesk Help Desk tickets assigned to the district Assessment Team.
  • Ensure Zendesk tickets assigned to the Assessment Team are referred to the applicable district Assessment Team member daily.
  • Partner with Director of Assessment to ensure each district Assessment Team member is responding to each assigned ticket within 24 business hours.
  • Partner with Director of Assessment to ensure the district Assessment Team meets yearly goal for customer satisfaction in Zendesk (Assessment Team Department).

Knowledge and Skills 

  • Proficiency in Word, PowerPoint, Excel required.
  • Ability to work independently and self-manage complex tasks
  • Ability to interpret, apply and explain process steps related to testing systems 
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, organizational, and clerical skills required
  • Detail-oriented with prior data entry experience required
  •  Ability to develop and maintain collaborative relationships with district, regional and school-level staff, as well as external vendors, often leading through influence 
  • Ability to provide excellent and timely customer service.      
  • Thrive within a fast-paced, customer service-oriented team who provides frequent feedback.  

 
Qualifications  

  • Required Education: Bachelor’s degree required, experience may be accepted in lieu of degree
  • Minimum Experience: At least 1 year of experience with database/system management required.  

 

Physical Requirements: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit for prolonged periods of time, but will also stand, walk, talk or listen.  The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.

Compensation & Benefits:

Salaries for people entering this role typically fall between $58,400 and $67,200, commensurate with relevant experience and qualifications and in alignment with internal equity. This role is also eligible for performance pay based on organizational performance and goal attainment.
