Job Summary:    
Ziff Media Group is looking for a Software Engineer II ( PHP / Laravel / MySQL / JS) to join our Engineering team who works on most trafficked commerce and publishing sites - a list that includes Mashable, PCMag, ExtremeTech, LifeHacker and Askmen. Engineers can expect to work on developing user facing websites along with its own Content Management Systems. Candidates will work within a fast-paced, collaborative, and team-based support environment.   

   

Job Duties:   
  • Identify, scope and architect solutions for new features in a single system while understanding implications on adjacent systems.   
  • Collaborate with developers, product managers and stakeholders to efficiently solve problems and capitalize on new opportunities.   
  • Diagnose and fix deep technical issues.   
  • Identify and communicate cross-team dependencies.   
  • Consistently deliver timely, high quality, and maintainable solutions.   
  • Write documentation and create automated tests.   
  • Curious and eager to learn about new technology, our systems, and the industry at large.   

   

Job Qualifications:   
  • 5+ years of industry development experience.   
  • Experience in building web applications and MVC frameworks. (Laravel, Laravel Nova)   
  • Proficiency in an object oriented or functional programming language (PHP 8+, Javascript)   
  • Experience with development collaboration tools (e.g. JIRA, Git).   
  • Experience using Tailwind CSS and with responsive web design.   
  • Has a solid software development foundation implementing design patterns, OOPs, and coding best practices.   
  • An understanding of the software development lifecycle: architecture and development, thorough testing, deployment, and monitoring of applications.   
  • Bachelor’s or master's in engineering, computer science, or related field preferred but not mandatory   

   

Preferred Skills   
  • Experience working with MySQL   
  • Experience working with Laravel and Laravel Nova   
  • Experience using JavaScript frameworks such as Vue JS or Alpine JS   
  • Experience using Tailwind CSS and with responsive web design   
  • Experience working with Git, Docker, testing frameworks

Salary Disclosure: Ziff Davis provides a range for the base pay. Factors that may be used to determine your actual pay may include your specific job related knowledge, skills, experience, and geographic location. The base pay for this position ranges from $120,000 to $130,000, plus incentive compensation (for eligible roles only), 401K with company match, medical, dental, vision, and life insurance, short and long-term disability, and a flexible time off policy.
