Captive Account Executive

The Opportunity:
The Captive Account Executive serves as the primary relationship manager for a portfolio of captive insurance company clients. This role is responsible for overseeing the day‑to‑day management, governance, financial coordination, and regulatory compliance of assigned captives while acting as a trusted advisor to boards, owners, and key stakeholders. The Account Executive partners closely with internal service teams and external providers to ensure each captive operates effectively, compliantly, and in alignment with client strategy.
In This Role You Will Execute On:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned captive clients, building strong, consultative relationships with owners, board members, and senior leadership
- Coordinate and support captive board meetings, including agenda development, preparation of materials, minutes, and follow‑up on action items
- Provide strategic guidance on captive performance, structure, and long‑term planning
- Proactively identify client needs, emerging risks, and opportunities for program optimization
- Oversee day‑to‑day captive operations, ensuring adherence to governance documents, business plans, and service agreements
- Monitor underwriting results, loss experience, reserves, and program performance in partnership with actuaries and claims administrators
- Coordinate with fronting carriers, reinsurers, brokers, and third‑party administrators (TPAs) as applicable
- Support formation, restructuring, expansion, or run‑off of captive programs as needed
- Review and coordinate preparation of financial statements, management reports, and regulatory filings
- Serve as liaison with auditors, actuaries, tax providers, and regulators
- Ensure compliance with domicile laws and regulations, including annual filings, premium taxes, and licensing requirements
- Assist with capital planning, dividend strategies, and solvency monitoring
- Partner with internal accounting, compliance, and advisory teams to deliver high‑quality captive management services
- Contribute to continuous improvement of processes, reporting, and service delivery
- Mentor junior captive professionals and support team development where applicable
- Support new captive formations or expansions through technical expertise and client presentations
- Participate in client meetings, industry events, and thought leadership initiatives
- Identify opportunities to expand services with existing captive clients
In This Role You Will Need:
- Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Insurance, Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field
- 6+ years of experience in captive insurance management, commercial insurance, risk management, or a related discipline
- Strong understanding of captive insurance structures, governance, and operations, prior experience working with Risk Retention Groups preferable
- Experience working directly with senior clients, boards, or executive stakeholders
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation skills
- Professional designations such as ACI, CPCU, ARM, or progress toward certification
- Experience working with domestic and/or international captive domiciles
- Knowledge of reinsurance structures and fronting arrangements
- Client‑focused, consultative mindset
- Strong financial and analytical acumen
- Highly organized with the ability to manage multiple clients and deadlines
- Ability to translate technical insurance and financial concepts into clear, actionable insights
- Proven problem‑solving and decision‑making skills
- Collaborative and adaptable in a dynamic environment
- Periodic travel for client meetings, board meetings, and domiciliary visits
