Communications Specialists (contingent) DC/remote
 
HWC is seeking experienced Communication Specialists for multiple roles helping our government clients create a more resilient Nation and helping our company build on our 19-year track record of strong communications consulting. Successful applicants will be responsible for developing and executing strategic communication initiatives to effectively engage target audiences, enhance program visibility, and drive behavior change. Communication Specialists will play a pivotal role in crafting compelling messaging, creating engaging content, and implementing communication strategies across various channels.  
  
This is a predominantly remote position. Washington, DC metro area preferred.

What You Will be Doing:  
  
Candidates will fill one of several potential roles with some of the following responsibilities:  
  
  • Develop and implement comprehensive communication plans to support organizational objectives and initiatives.
  • Provide strategic communications expertise to senior client leadership, inclusive of developing talking points and presentations. 
  • Engage stakeholders to understand their information needs and preferences.  
  • Craft clear, concise, and impactful messaging tailored to different audiences, including employees, program stakeholders, and the public.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with project teams to gather information, coordinate messaging, and ensure consistency in communication efforts.
  • Facilitate meetings with a variety of subject matter experts to generate innovative ideas and concepts for communication materials. 
  • Create compelling content for various communication channels, including but not limited to, websites, social media platforms, newsletters, press releases, and marketing materials.
  • Support media relations, including coordinating media inquiries and responses with client technical and communications/external affairs staff.
  • Coordinate and support the organization's participation in virtual and in-person events, conferences, and other outreach opportunities, including content development, logistics, and follow-up.
  • Measure and analyze the effectiveness of communication efforts using metrics and analytics tools and make data-driven recommendations for continuous improvement.
  • Identify emerging customer issues and proactively develop strategies to address those concerns. 
  • Stay current with emerging communication trends, technologies, and best practices, and share insights and recommendations with the team.
  
Qualifications:  
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Public Relations, or related field.
  • At least 3 years of experience.
  • Experience designing and implementing collaborative approaches to develop communication strategies and products.
  • Ability to translate complex technical information for non-technical audiences.
  • “Clean” criminal and financial/credit record enabling a successful U.S. government “Public Trust” background investigation.
Preferred Qualifications  
  • Previous federal government consulting experience
  • Demonstrated experience in a communication role, with a strong portfolio showcasing successful campaigns, content creation, and messaging.
  • Proficiency in digital communication tools and platforms, including content management systems, social media management tools, and analytics software.
   
HWC salaries are based on factors that include but are not limited to: location; an individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience; organizational requirements; and contract-specific requirements. Salary is just one component of HWC’s total compensation package for employees.  
  
The estimate here represents the typical salary range for this position. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role, compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The projected compensation range for this position is $70,000 to $90,000 (annualized USD).
