Custom Brands Group is looking for a Product Manager to join our growing team!

The Product Manager is responsible for developing, executing and maintain product programs, oversee multiple projects & timelines from inception to completion.  Provides product vision and direction through all phases of the product lifecycle and executes objectives by collaborating with cross-functional team members. Identifies opportunities, and drives product initiatives, which link to short and long-term goals.

The ideal candidate will possess outstanding coordination, collaboration, communication, project management, and leadership skills.  Superb accuracy and attention to detail, strong technical, critical-thinking, and analytical skills are required; with an outcome-oriented mindset, a strong sense of urgency, and a flair for creative problem solving on behalf of the company’s best interests. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:


  • Recognized as the organization's Subject Matter Expert for assigned product(s).

Teamwork and Collaboration

  • Leads and actively participates in meetings, trainings and summits demonstrating strong team work

  • Gather data, input and opinion from cross-functional team members to make better decisions for the product line.
  • Solicits feedback from cross-functional team members regarding changes or decisions to understand impact to timelines, cost or product specifications.
  • Drives process improvement working to eliminate non-value add work.


  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills providing support for complex product related needs.
  • Solid ability to present to communicate with cross-functional team members, engineering, sales team members, factory, vendors, dealers and divisional leadership.
  • Demonstrates the ability to clearly and effectively communicate and document requirements.
Project Management
  • Leads medium to large scale projects and advises on small scale projects.
  • Demonstrates the ability to prioritize tasks within a project.
  • Ability to make recommendations regarding project prioritization within product category.
New Product Development
  • Acts as champion of NPD projects across the product development team.
  • Demonstrates advanced understanding of product development processes and procedures.
  • Leads ideation process for projects: specific product and/or specific needs.
  • Leads requirement gathering and analysis for assigned product.
  • Creates product requirements and product platforms.
  • Understanding of product trademarks and trade dress and patents.


  • Actively problem solves utilizing analysis to determine actionable projects.
  • Continuous improvement projects in collaboration with cross-functional team
  • Provides oversight for and communication for quality issues.
  • Analyzes internal data and competitive information to provide SKU reduction recommendations.
  • Considers all distribution channels and launch/discontinuation implications, as well as warranty, repair and remake strategies.
Product Strategy
  • Product authority that clearly understands product features, benefits, user applications and positioning within the category.
  • Identifies key differences in the market, category and competitive landscape.
  • Demonstrates solid understanding of product fit within category and adjacent categories with consumers, sales team, dealers, installers.
  • Manage the product lifecycle and strategic planning.
  • Sensitive to market and industrial trend with the keen eyes in design and home décor fashion.
  • Possesses solid understanding of product channel differentiation
  • Understands current and past performance trends for the product and competition. Leverages this insight with marketplace and consumer trends to inform decisions and recommendations.
Financial Management
  • Develops and executes programs to achieve stated objectives regarding integrated margin, revenue and profitability.
  • Develops product price strategy to ensure targeted product margins and profitability is achieved.
  • Define product cost targets and hold functional teams accountable to achieve or surpass targets.
  • Solid knowledge of analysis and ability to track progress of goals and make recommendations.
  • Understanding of product P&L and ROI
  • Identify cost savings initiatives for the product line(s).
  • Solid understanding of cost of quality as it relates to product.
  • Plans research activities, collects, compiles and analyzes research data to shares with stakeholders.
  • Has solid understanding of qualitative and quantitative data, leveraging data to generate insight and/or analysis for the product line(s).
  • Understanding of trends and insights related to product line including consumer and dealer frustrations.
  • Leverages knowledge from past and present to inform decisions; conducts situational assessments for the product line, including SWOTs.

Education/Experience Requirements:

Bachelors or MBA degree
Minimum of 7+ years of experience in product management as a product owner or a similar role, preferably in consumer products segments.


  • Outstanding organizational, analytical, technical, critical-thinking and planning skills with superb accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and the proven ability to work well with all levels of management and staff.
  • Ability to prioritize and organize multiple work assignments and conduct work in a self-directed manner with limited supervision; work independently, multitask, and work under pressure. 
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills, technical writing experience preferred
  • Skills in data gathering, fact-finding and proactively presenting recommendations based on analysis. 
  • Solid knowledge of the principles of finance to prepare budgets and understand all costs connected with line extensions, and product enhancement.
  • Excellent written and oral communication and presentation skills, technical writing experience preferred
  • Solid knowledge of analyzing and comparing competitive data
  • Solid ability in conducting presentations to all size audiences.
  • Proficient with solid knowledge of computer use and software packages such as, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Google Suite.
  • Proficient with SAP & Smartsheet Preferred
