Performs Safety and Environmental related guidance and technical advice in partnership with site leaders to support the safety of employees at all levels at Salt Lake City Fabrication site. Be a strong subject matter expert, collaborator and influencer to provide effective safety solutions and advance the site safety culture. Coordinates EHS trending, program updates, and manages associated records.



Provides support to all employees in any Safety matter by acting as advisor, and technical and procedural resource.  Help apply OSHA regulations and other safety standards to the needs of Operations.

Develops, updates, and evaluates the effectiveness of Safety Procedures – guide changes and updates due to business or regulatory changes by coordinating with stakeholders; facilitate implementation of changes.  Conduct research on technical topics in order to advise stakeholders regarding procedure changes.

Assists with business area needs for Safety support including facilitating JHAs, area inspections and checklists, compliance questions, procedure or PPE guidance, machine or process safety


Provides support to leaders regarding the reporting and management of injuries and incidents. Investigates injuries with leaders to assist in identifying root causes and potential corrective actions, focusing on safety system improvements.

Manages safety trending systems such as incidents and injuries, hazard identifications, and inspections. Maintains the OSHA 300 logs and associated tracking and generates monthly safety metrics.

Lead and support safety initiatives to strive for continuous improvements using trending to identify root causes and corrective actions for focus areas. Work in partnership with internal departments including engineering, facilities, operations, maintenance, and human resources.


Lead collaborative teams by being an inspiring leader that can motivate others; collaborate to obtain optimal results from teams through respect, and confident, competent, and diplomatic interactions.

Maintain a leadership presence on the plant floor to engage employees and leaders in safety processes.

Conducts effective training and communications on various safety topics.

Develop the knowledge and skills of the Plant Safety Representative

Coordinates Safety Committee meetings, working with the Committee Chairperson to ensure agenda, discussions and handouts are managed.

Accountable for leading campus to ensure continued readiness for Corporate Safety audits


Maintain positive relationships with external entities such as regulatory agencies, vendors and professional organizations


Manages environmental programs such as EPCRA reporting, sustainability, recycling, and hazardous and non-hazardous waste management. Work with regulators, vendors, and internal constituents to meet regulatory and business needs.


Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.


Position requires regular and predictable attendance.

Solid knowledge of manufacturing processes and industrial safety.

Solid knowledge of federal, state and local safety standards and strong research skills to stay abreast of changes and apply effectively to the business

Solid knowledge of, and experience performing safety inspections and audits.

Solid knowledge of writing procedures, reports and communications

Solid knowledge of computer programs and applications such as Word, Excel and PowerPoint

Basic knowledge of federal, state and local environmental regulations

Basic knowledge of project management in order to establish timelines for various projects.

Skill in developing and maintaining effective work relationships. Demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, understand various perspectives, and work effectively with a wide range of associates in a diverse community.

Skill influencing employees and leaders, coaching teams and developing safety skills in employees at all levels and backgrounds

Ability to maintain trending, statistical, and other records.

Ability to conduct presentations before large groups as a department representative

Ability to demonstrate a high degree of self-motivation and personal initiative to undertake and complete work assignments with limited supervision

Ability to identify, analyze, measure and control occupational health and safety risks within the workplace.

Ability to communicate complex information in a way that is easy to understand for a wide range of audiences with different levels of education, life experiences and language.

Ability to analyze cause and effect relationships, identify and overcome obstacles, and resolve concerns of employees to achieve results in a timely manner.

Ability to deal with highly confidential and sensitive information.



Includes a related Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, and four to six years Safety experience, with at least 3 years in a fabrication/manufacturing environment is required.   CSP or ASP, or other safety certification preferred.
