Our PowerView product is an innovative, motorized option offering integrations with big names like Apple, Amazon, and Google. In order to remain innovative in this connected home space we need your expertise in motor assemblies, remote controls, PCBA’s and partnering with contract manufacturers. Motorization continues to be the primary focus of our organization with unprecedented visibility to senior leadership. This role offers the ability to directly impact the success of our highly anticipated next version product launch, ultimately leading to your success as well!
What will you do?
Plans the purchase of raw motorization materials (motor assemblies, remote controls, PCBA’s and other electronic components) based upon inventory stock schedules along with information obtained from company sales and production forecasts. Conducts individual research of price increases of raw materials. Inputs requisition orders on a continuous basis.
Reviews on a daily basis, MRP (Material Review Planner) to assist in the scheduling and planning of purchases of motor assemblies and accessories. Works with suppliers on order status, quality, pricing, terms of delivery, contract provisions. Prepares monthly, quarterly and annual usage projections for suppliers to aid in long and short range planning.
Monitors on a daily basis the delivery dates of materials, inventory levels and production forecasts. Partner with suppliers to expedite delivery of materials due to low inventory levels. Tracks shipment of materials.
Searches out, utilizing a variety of resources, supplier sources of raw motorization materials used in the development of new products.
Negotiates with suppliers on pricing, delivery and terms of payment for all goods and services. Communicates on a regular basis with suppliers to challenge price increases while insisting on product and service quality. Mitigates supply chain risks associated with sole-source suppliers, manufacturing capacity, engineering specifications, and pricing.
Establishes/Negotiates supply contracts with key suppliers in support of Vendor Managed Inventories, JIT deliveries, managed liability, part lifecycle, and other critical terms such as but not limited to Confidentiality, Indemnity, Warranty, and other applicable terms.
Conducts benchmark analysis of supply chain logistics and commodity pricing to drive sourcing strategies. Develop strategies for annual cost reductions with supply partners.
Working knowledge of CT-Pat processes and procedures.
Maintains the competitive bidding system of quotation activity with suppliers. Documents any and all contact between suppliers and buyer’s according to company adopted ISO-9001 requirements.
Establish annual supplier goals and provide clear direction and feedback. Host Quarterly business reviews of supplier past performance.
Works efficiently with other departments such as, engineering, marketing, quality and operations to bring new motorization product to market, maintain existing products, improve quality, manage material availability and on-time customer delivery.
Effectively communicate with Fabricators regarding stock-outs, quality issues, new product launch, end of life products, and all other business-related topics.
Assists other departments in the formulation and written development of material specifications to be utilized in working with PCBA, motor and accessory suppliers.
Lead commodity/project teams to establish supplier goals, sourcing strategies, system improvements/updates, process improvements, and new product materials development. Participate in design and development meetings to provide input to the procurement plan.
Develop project timelines, strategic tasks, and reporting mechanisms to assure project is on track. Present project status to management team for review.
Assist Material Manager with high priority projects & reporting. Strong Excel/Google Sheets and presentation skills a must.
What will you have?
Experience with motor assemblies, PCBA’s and new product development are must-have requirements. A four-year degree is desired in business with an emphasis in purchasing. Five or more years of business experience within a manufacturing environment is preferred. A substitute of seven or more year’s business experience in lieu of a four-year degree. Ongoing professional development through courses offered by APICS (American Production Inventory Society) is desired.
Basic knowledge of some principles of engineering to understand product development processes.
Solid knowledge of PCB/PCBA’s and electronics. Previous experience with motors and assemblies a plus.
Solid knowledge of the computer use and software such as Word, Excel, SAP, MRP system.
Solid knowledge of SAP PTP and MRP, preferably in SAP S4/Hana.
Expert knowledge of the principles or purchasing and computerized purchasing systems such as MRP.
Expert knowledge of sourcing techniques and supply chain logistics, to locate suppliers or service providers.
Expert knowledge of the principles of negotiation to aid in working with suppliers of goods and services on prices and terms of delivery.
Skill in analyzing inventory forecast and demand level information.
Ability to demonstrate initiative in pursuing alternate sourcing techniques of suppliers of goods or services.
Ability to use creative problem-solving techniques to resolve issues where there are delays in delivery of goods or price increases.
Ability to use professional discretion in working with highly confidential proprietary information.
Ability to read and comprehend blueprints and technical drawings.
Ability to handle several priority items as well as meet simultaneous deadlines.
