Job Overview
The Back Counter Associate supports daily parts operations by assisting technicians, service staff, and counter sales associates with parts fulfillment, inventory handling, and internal parts support. This role is primarily focused on internal operations and warehouse-style functions, with limited overlap in counter support as needed. The Back Counter Associate plays a critical role in ensuring accurate, timely, and efficient parts flow to support service operations and customer satisfaction.
Responsibilities and Duties:
Pull, stage, and distribute parts for technicians and service teams in a timely and accurate manner
Receive, stock, label, and organize parts and supplies in designated storage locations
Assist with inventory counts, cycle counts, and reconciliation activities
Monitor stock levels and notify leadership of shortages, damaged items, or discrepancies
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized parts and warehouse area
Serve as a primary point of contact for technicians requesting parts and materials
Provide basic parts information such as availability, location, and compatibility when requested
Coordinate with Counter Sales Associates to support order fulfillment and workflow efficiency
Communicate delays, substitutions, or backorders to appropriate team members
Assist at the counter during peak periods or staff shortages as assigned
Support order lookup, part identification, and basic transaction processing under direction
Redirect complex sales, pricing, or customer issues to Counter Sales Associates or leadership
Accurately document parts movement in inventory and point-of-sale systems
Follow company policies related to inventory control, safety, and operational procedures
Comply with all workplace safety standards and participate in required training
Other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications
Basic knowledge of parts, components, or equipment in a trailer, diesel, automotive, or industrial environment
Ability to read part numbers, work orders, and pick tickets accurately
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on environment
Effective communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with technicians and sales staff
Basic computer skills and ability to learn inventory or POS systems
High school diploma or equivalent required
Prior experience in a parts, warehouse, automotive, diesel, trailer, or industrial setting preferred
Forklift or warehouse equipment experience a plus (certification may be required or provided)
Physical Requirements
Warehouse/Shop Environment
Must be able to lift/carry 25 lbs frequently.
Must be able to lift/carry 50 lbs occasionally.
Must be able to lift/carry 100+ lbs infrequently.
Prolonged periods of walking and standing.
