Responsibilities & Duties:
The Mobile Mechanic position supports the Mechanic Foreman as a hands-on heavy-duty truck and trailer Technician. Mechanics may straddle the comprehensive side of product repair knowledge and the practical side of customer service. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Travel locally to worksites to repair or replace damaged or worn parts; position may require one week per month of after-hours/on-call work.
- Evaluate and diagnose mechanical & electrical problems and air systems.
- Examine parts for damage or excessive wear.
- Dismantle, reassemble, and fabricate repairs on semi-trailers.
- Test equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance.
Skills & Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED – Required
- Experience with heavy duty equipment repair preferred
- Completion of a vocational or other post-secondary training program – Preferred
- Trailer body and/or Welding and Fabrication experience – Preferred
- Having your own hand tools is a plus, but not all required (larger equipment/tools will be supplied by Company).
- Time management skills
- Ability to obtain a Chauffeur’s License, DOT Medical Card, and pass a Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) if needed (company paid)
- Clean driving record
Physical Requirements:
- Must be able to lift/carry 25lbs frequently.
- Must be able to lift/carry 50lbs occasionally.
- Must be able to lift/carry 100lbs during team lifts infrequently.
