Inventory Control Specialist
Job Summary:
The Inventory Control Specialist will maintain the organization's inventory, ordering and supplying necessary items while maintaining accurate records of all procurements and collaborating with other departments.
Key Responsibilities:
- Maintains consistent stock of inventory, ordering new stock up to pre-authorized limit as inventory dwindles.
- Establishes and maintains backup sources for high-demand items.
- Develops and maintains good working relationships with vendors.
- Assesses inventory reports and order patterns to identify items in need of automatic, recurring delivery.
- Provides inventory reports to the Purchasing Team and Inventory Control Manager.
- Maintains accurate daily records of goods received and shipments made.
- Manages and maintains inventory system; facilitates upgrades to related database and/or software under the direction of Purchasing or the Inventory Control Manager.
- Conduct frequent spot and partial audits of physical inventory and stock location audits; assists with periodic (at least annual) physical inventory audits.
- Conducts SKU bin counts & locating new SKU.
- Assists the Shipping Team with missing parts.
- Coordinates with Material Handlers.
- Operates Forklifts and other warehouse machinery when necessary; adheres to all safety protocols and procedures when operating warehouse equipment and handling materials.
- Performs other related duties as requested.
Skills & Abilities:
- Excellent communication skills with Warehouse Workers, the Purchasing Department, and outside vendors.
- Basic understanding of inventory control procedures.
- Proficient keyboarding and data entry skills
- ERP experience is a plus.
- Extremely organized and able to work with minimum supervision.
- Ability to develop professional relationships with outside vendors.
- Ability to perform basic math calculations
Education & Experience:
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- Experience with computerized inventory systems required.
- Forklift operation experience required.
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods of walking or standing.
- Must be able to lift up to 75 pounds at times.
- Must be able to navigate warehouse and reach items both high and low.
