Accountant - Distribution
Description
Hood Industries, Inc. is a blend of wood manufacturing and distribution concerns that include plywood and lumber manufacturing plants, and sixteen specialty wood product distribution operations, located in fifteen states serving the northeast, southeast and southwest United States.
If you are a high performing professional with a detail-oriented personality, our position as Accountant within Hood Industries is right for you. Under general supervision handles a wide variety of advanced accounting work, following appropriate procedures to ensure timely and accurate results.
Key Responsibilities:
- Journal Entries (depreciation, cash receipts, worker’s compensation, expense accruals, etc)
- Work closely with the Controller to ensure general ledgers are reconciled and posted correctly.
- Prepare and file monthly Sales and Use Tax Returns
- Review vendors for accurate W-9 information.
- Assist vendors with payments (checks, credit cards, ACH, etc.)
- Responsible for bi-weekly payment run.
- Prepare and file Property Taxes
- Prepare and file IFTA and IRP reports.
- Asset Management using FAS software.
- Calculate monthly depreciation.
- Manage Leased Equipment for accrual entries needed.
- Responsible for obtaining and yearly renewal of business licenses
- Manage Titles to Assets
- Back up for Bank Reconciliation and daily cash balancing
- Calculate and pay Customer Rebates
- Balance A/R, Inventory, and AP daily
- Manage ERP error entries to financial package.
Required Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or equivalent required.
We are looking for a candidate with a minimum of 2-4 years of accounting experience. Must be organized and have good communication and interpersonal skills. Must have computer skills and intermediate Excel and Word experience.
