Production Associate
Description
Hood Industries, Inc. is hiring production positions at our lumber mill located in Bogalusa, LA. We are seeking high performing and motivated team players to join our team and grow with us. The positions are entry level positions that have opportunities for advancement.
The primary purpose of a production associate is being responsible for cleaning designated areas in the production areas of lumber, bark, and sawdust using a variety of hand and mechanical tools/equipment safely and efficiently, assuring smooth and efficient machinery operation as well as providing for a safe workplace.
Key Responsibilities:
- Clean equipment and machinery.
- Load or unload materials and products.
- Monitor machines to ensure continued movement of lumber and materials throughout the mill.
- Use an assortment of hand tools to complete daily clean-up duties, such as air hoses, shovels, brooms, blower, etc.
- Work with minimal supervision, in a safe and productive manner.
- Must be able to follow written and oral instructions.
- Adhere to all safety, health, policies, procedures, and guidelines. This includes wearing personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Must work well with others.
- **Other Duties: Performs other duties as assigned.
Essentials of Job:
- Ability to work in small, tight, confined, dark areas; climb ladders and steps, work safely on uneven ground.
- Safely operate assigned mobile equipment to perform job duties.
- Safely operate assigned machine centers.
- Lift, push, and pull by hand various weights (light to heavy) of lumber, bark, and sawdust.
- Stand or walk for extended periods of time.
- Communicate with and follow directions from supervisors and maintenance personnel.
Requirements/Qualifications:
- Willing and able to work any shift, holidays, weekends, and overtime as needed.
- Willing and able to work in a hot, cold, noisy, industrial environment.
- Willing and able to pull and lift to 50 lbs.
- Willing and able to perform tasks such as lifting, kneeling, walking, climbing, stooping, standing, pushing, and/or pulling for up to 12 hours per day.
Preferred Requirement/Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Previous experience in a manufacturing or production environment preferred.
- Previous machine operation experience in a production environment preferred.
