Position Summary
The Manager of Corporate Systems will lead the strategy, lifecycle management, modernization, and support of Hood Industries’ corporate and operational business systems. This role is responsible for ensuring that enterprise applications effectively support manufacturing, human capital management, finance, lumber procurement, maintenance, and distribution operations.
The successful candidate will combine strategic leadership with practical expertise in enterprise resource planning, human resources information systems, financial applications, warehouse management, manufacturing systems, maintenance systems, and related integrations. Working directly with business and operational leaders, this individual will translate business processes, challenges, and requirements into reliable, scalable, and supportable technology solutions.
This leader will manage a team of business analysts and contract resources while maintaining accountability for application roadmaps, vendor relationships, system performance, project delivery, and continuous improvement. The role will also evaluate Hood Industries’ current systems and identify opportunities to simplify, integrate, replace, or modernize applications as business needs and technology capabilities evolve.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and execute Hood Industries’ corporate systems strategy and roadmap, maintaining strategic ownership of applications supporting manufacturing, human capital management, finance, procurement, maintenance, and distribution.
Evaluate ERP, HRIS, finance, shop floor, maintenance, warehouse management, and related systems to identify opportunities for modernization, consolidation, integration, or replacement.
Partner with business and operational leaders to understand processes, pain points, compliance requirements, performance needs, and strategic objectives.
Translate business requirements into practical system designs, configurations, integrations, enhancements, and implementation plans while advising leaders on capabilities, costs, risks, and expected value.
Lead and develop the Corporate Systems team, including business analysts and application-focused resources, by establishing clear priorities, responsibilities, development plans, and performance expectations.
Plan and oversee contract resources, ensuring clear scopes of work, deliverables, budget accountability, knowledge transfer, and alignment with Hood Industries’ standards and priorities.
Establish effective practices for application support, issue management, root-cause analysis, enhancements, testing, documentation, release management, and change control.
Ensure business systems are reliable, secure, supportable, appropriately documented, and aligned with Hood Industries’ cybersecurity and technology standards.
Establish application governance for system ownership, access, configuration, licensing, testing, documentation, change management, and lifecycle planning.
Monitor application performance, support trends, recurring issues, vendor responsiveness, and user adoption to identify opportunities for improvement.
Manage software vendors, consultants, and implementation partners, including contracts, licensing, commercial activities, performance, issue resolution, service levels, and product roadmaps.
Develop business cases and recommendations for corporate systems investments that improve business processes, user experience, operational efficiency, scalability, and long-term supportability.
Technical Knowledge
The Manager of Corporate Systems will provide leadership across a technology environment that includes:
Enterprise resource planning, warehouse, inventory, and distribution platforms such as Epicor BisTrack, Epicor Warehouse Management System, and comparable solutions.
Manufacturing, lumber procurement, yard, scale, maintenance, and shop-floor systems such as LumberTrack, Yard Boss, Scale Boss, WeighWiz, Guardian CMMS, Aldata, and Trimble LIMS.
Financial and corporate applications such as Microsoft Dynamics GP, Prophix, Avalara, Epicor Payment Application, SmartConnect, and Concur.
Human capital management, workforce management, performance, safety, and compliance platforms such as Unicorn HRIS, Kronos, Trakstar, and KPA.
Corporate application security, access management, licensing, configuration, release management, and lifecycle management practices.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in information technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration, Engineering, or related field; equivalent experience considered. Master’s degree preferred.
Seven or more years of progressive experience supporting, implementing, managing, or modernizing enterprise business systems.
Three or more years of experience leading employees, business analysts, contract resources, technical teams, projects, or major cross-functional initiatives.
Experience developing application strategies, system roadmaps, modernization plans, business cases, and implementation recommendations.
Experience leading corporate application implementations, upgrades, integrations, migrations, and major enhancement initiatives.
Strong understanding of business analysis, requirements gathering, process design, system configuration, testing, documentation, change management, and application support practices.
Experience managing software vendors, consultants, implementation partners, contracts, licensing, commercial negotiations, project budgets, deliverables, and contract resources.
Ability to translate business requirements into practical technology solutions and explain technical concepts in clear business language.
Experience supporting multiple business functions, facilities, operating companies, or geographic locations is preferred.
Experience in wood products, manufacturing, distribution, supply chain, procurement, or another asset-intensive industry is preferred.
