Hood Industries, Inc. is a blend of wood manufacturing and distribution concerns that include plywood, lumber manufacturing plants, and twenty-four specialty wood product distribution operations, located in eighteen states serving northeast, southeast, and southwest United States.
The primary purpose of the Spray Line Lead oversees the lay-up and pressing operations in a plywood manufacturing environment. This role includes coordinating team activities, ensuring quality and safety standards, training operators, and monitoring productivity to meet production targets. The Lead is responsible for supervising daily operations and troubleshooting issues to ensure efficient and smooth production processes.
Key responsibilities:
The primary purpose of the Spray Line Lead oversees the lay-up and pressing operations in a plywood manufacturing environment. This role includes coordinating team activities, ensuring quality and safety standards, training operators, and monitoring productivity to meet production targets. The Lead is responsible for supervising daily operations and troubleshooting issues to ensure efficient and smooth production processes.
Key responsibilities:
• Assists in supervision and direct the lay-up and press team, ensuring all team members understand their roles and responsibilities.
• Assign tasks to operators based on production schedules and individual skill levels.
• Monitor team performance, provide guidance, feedback, and support as needed.
• Oversee the lay-up process to ensure correct layering, adhesive application, and alignment according to product specifications.
• Assists in supervision of press operations, adjusting machine settings as needed to achieve desired product quality and consistency.
• Ensure efficient workflow by monitoring and coordinating lay-up and pressing activities.
• Inspect materials and finished products to ensure they meet quality standards and specifications.
• Identify and address quality issues immediately, collaborating with the quality control department to implement corrective actions.
• Train team members on quality standards and inspection techniques to maintain high-quality output.
• Train new and existing team members on lay-up and press procedures, safety protocols, and equipment operation.
• Conduct regular skill assessments and provide additional training to improve team competency and productivity.
• Enforce safety guidelines, ensuring all team members adhere to company safety protocols and wear necessary personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Conduct routine safety inspections and maintain a clean, organized, and hazard-free work area.
• Report any safety incidents or equipment malfunctions to the Production Supervisor or safety team promptly.
• Troubleshoot and resolve any operational issues related to the lay-up or press machines.
• Perform routine maintenance checks on equipment and coordinate repairs as necessary.
• Work with the maintenance team to schedule preventive maintenance and minimize downtime.
• Maintain accurate records of production, including quantities, quality issues, machine settings, and downtime.
• Report daily production metrics and any operational challenges to the Production Supervisor.
• Participate in shift handovers to communicate key information to the incoming shift.

• Skilled in identifying and resolving issues efficiently to minimize production delays.
