Electrical Superintendent
Description
Hood Industries, Inc is seeking an Electrical Superintendent for our Beaumont, Mississippi plywood facility. This is a greenfield site that will employ up to 250 employees. As an Electrical Superintendent, you will play a critical role within the business by overseeing the electrical department and ensuring all electrical equipment operates in the safest, most efficient, and profitable manner.
Hood Industries, Inc. is a blend of wood manufacturing and distribution concerns that include plywood and lumber manufacturing plants, and twenty-four specialty wood product distribution operations, located in eighteen states serving the northeast, southeast and southwest United States.
This position will manage the electrical staff; diagnose equipment failures and oversee the repair of problems as they arise; coordinate all activities in the electrical department regarding preventative and predictive electrical maintenance, installations, and modifications; and ensure all electrical equipment is maintained in safe, efficient operating condition.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure the safety of all employees and contractors. Supporting corporate safety programs, developing SOPs, identifying, and eliminating hazards, and enforcing all safety policies.
- Ensure compliance with all standards and programs within area of responsibility.
- Supervise electricians and other electrical department personnel.
- Develop self and staff to ensure personal and professional growth.
- Schedule and assign all tasks required to meet preventative/predictive electrical maintenance needs of the facility.
- Manage inventory of spares and critical spares according to site business plan and engage with key suppliers to optimize cost savings opportunities for the department.
- Work closely with other departments, vendors, and regulatory agencies to accomplish goals and objectives.
- Maintain all electrically related compliance documentation.
- Design and develop new installations of a small to medium scope including power, motor control, controls, instrumentation, and programming of software to operate or improve plant equipment including PLCs and HMI software.
- Perform all duties in accordance with safety, health and environmental rules and regulations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications/Requirements:
- 5+ years of related electrical experience and 3+ years of management experience. An associate’s degree or vocational certification is required, BS or EE degree preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the key responsibilities.
- Demonstrated knowledge of plant electrical equipment, operations, and predictive/preventative maintenance systems.
- Knowledge of safety, health, and environmental rules, laws, and requirements.
- Demonstrated knowledge of PLCs and the writing and troubleshooting of control logic, HMI systems, data communications networking, electronic and instrumentation equipment.
- Demonstrated oral, written communication and math skills.
- Ability to interpret and apply HR, Safety and Environmental policies and procedures.
- Ability to effectively motivate, coach and lead direct reports through daily assignments and effectively lead meetings and team assignments.
- Effective leadership, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Knowledge of medium and high voltage systems.
- Knowledge of IT systems, PC hardware and software servers, fiber opt cabling and network switches.
- Basic budgeting and financial analysis skills.
- Skill in reading and interpreting blueprints and P & ID schematics.
