As a Web Developer, you will be responsible for assisting with the support, maintenance, and development of Home Hardware’s intranet (Connect). This includes consulting and collaborating with Connect Team Members and internal corporate teams to design and produce relevant, timely and well-designed content for our Home Store users. Led by the Manager, Connect, this opportunity suits someone who thrives independently, brings fresh and creative ideas, embraces new learning experiences, and is fueled by motivation and drive.

  • Design and develop effective web pages using JavaScript, HTML and CSS with a focus on the end-user’s needs and wants.
  • Design, develop and customize SharePoint solutions including maintaining security policies, permissions, and access controls.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, departments, and Connect Team Members to ensure Store user needs are met.
  • Gather and evaluate web page requirements in collaboration with the Connect team and present content design ideas using process flows and sitemaps.
  • Assist with gathering, evaluating, scheduling, and testing platform requirements for new features, improvements, and bug fixes.
  • Identify and research the latest trends and technology within the industry and how they can be implemented in Connect.
  • Provide back–up support to the other members of the Connect Team.
We’re looking for:
  • College Diploma in Web Development, UI/UX Design.
  • Microsoft SharePoint training and/or certification is highly desirable.
  • Two years’ experience with front end web design and development experience including hand coding HTML and CSS, with a strong understanding of design patterns, general web functions and industry standards.
  • Strong understanding of UI, cross-browser compatibility, general web functions and standards across browsers.
  • Proficient in Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and InDesign and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with accessibility guidelines for web development.
  • The ability to identify and understand the multifaceted needs of a diverse user base and tailor content, tools and experiences based on this information.
  • Energetic, creative, and detail-oriented, with excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytical and project management skills.
  • Bilingual in both English and French is an asset.
  • The ability to be onsite three days a week at our corporate office in St. Jacobs, to accommodate our hybrid working model.
