Term Afternoon Shift Supervisor
HOURS: 3PM TO 11PM Monday to Friday GRADE: 9
Responsible to the Afternoon Shift Foreman for maintaining production in an assigned area and for contributing to distribution goals and objectives. Attaining corporate objectives and goals in the Distribution Centre, using Home’s mission as a guide.
Ensures all Staff receive training for assigned tasks.
Maintains a high level of job satisfaction and safety awareness (following the guidelines of the Occupational Health and Safety Act), while maintaining a high level of morale and acting as a liaison between Staff and Foremen.
Monitor’s production and Staff activities regularly in designated section to ensure daily targets are met and resources are in place to achieve these targets (Includes: shipping, receiving and other material handling activities).
Is trained in WM had ensures effective cross-training of staff members.
Prepares and conducts Staff progress reviews
Extensive Home Hardware distribution experience.
Previous supervisory experience an asset.
Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills with the ability to multi-task, obtain information, determine course of action and follow through to successful resolution.
Ability to assess and implement process improvement initiatives.
Must be a demonstrated decision-maker who easily interacts with others and has the ability to effectively lead and motivate others in a team environment.
Must have a flexible, highly self-motivated, proactive ‘can do’ working style with a desire to continually improve and meet goals.
Must obtain a valid first aid certificate and receive defibrillator training which can be acquired through Home Hardware training. Willingness to work extended hours, weekend shifts, overtime as needed, attend supervisory training sessions, learn labour safety legislations and all aspects of distribution, while carrying out departmental and supervisory duties.
