Supervisor, Facilities and Mobile Equipment

 HOURS: 7:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.     Monday through Friday            

Responsible to the Director of Facilities and Equipment for providing supervision of the Facilities and Mobile Equipment Team while overseeing the installation, maintenance, repair and upkeep of equipment and facility, as well as analyze trends and problem-solves to maximize contribution to the DSCs success. Ensures the equipment and facilities are in good working order. Maintain the daily functions of Home Hardware in a safe, orderly, and cost-effective manner. Works collaboratively with DSCM/DFE to develop strategies and objectives for maximizing productivity and leveraging expenses.

 Works collaboratively with and supervises all equipment and facility Team Members and oversees (and sometimes assists with) facility repair, maintenance, and installation of equipment to ensure continuous operations. Coordinates the work to be done, ensuring the interior and exterior of buildings are maintained to company standards, along with grounds maintenance, snow removal, and pest control.

Responsible for legislated compliance of systems, equipment, and facility. Awareness of building code compliance. Stay current with energy issues and advice accordingly.

Responsible for assisting with contractor selection including sourcing and reviewing contractor bids, ensuring that contractors are compliant with standards (safety, budget, schedule, quality).
Oversees daily operations of all projects.

Review maintenance, production, and quality control reports and statistics to plan and modify maintenance activities.

Recommends and supports implementation changes to facility and equipment that are cost effective and compliant with safety standards. Ensure that health and safety rules are followed by all Team Members and Contractors.

Monitors DSC safety, physical security and inspects equipment and facilities regularly for compliance with operational and safety standards.

Coaches, trains, and develops own team, both informally and formally. Responsible for bi-annual and annual progress reviews for their Team as well as providing/recommending progressive discipline where required.

Research and recommend alternate/new technologies that maximize the efficiency of the DSC.

Maintains a close working relationship with distribution and office Managers and the Maintenance Lead Hands to ensure all maintenance issues concerning the facilities are addressed.

Assists with ensuring that technical certifications are achieved and sustained.

Ensure Team Members comply with policies and procedures and rules and regulations, affecting department activities, while maintaining high level of morale.

Assist with maintaining a safe and clean work environment.

Maintain knowledge and awareness of Health, Safety, Accident Investigation, Human Rights, Employment Standards, Employment Standards Act to ensure compliance and due diligence with respect to Team Members and facilities.

Ensure immediate follow up on unsafe or hazardous work conditions as identified by Team Members or Safety Representatives.

Provide support as required in the absence of the Director of Facilities and Equipment.

Help to coordinate special projects and other duties as assigned by the Director of Facilities and Equipment.

3+ years job specific experience

1+ years supervisory experience

Millwright accreditation preferred

Extensive knowledge of Material Handling Equipment (forklifts)

Strong interpersonal and communication skills; demonstrated leadership capabilities with previous supervisory experience

Strong understanding of Warehouse Management Systems (WMS), Manhattan System, and Maintenance Management Software

Experience with Outlook, Excel, Word, Oracle, WMS, and other Home Hardware applications

Excellent project management skills

Knowledge of property management and applications, with extensive

Knowledge of electrical, building, and machine repair.

Excellent organizational and time management skills

Good trouble shooting skills
