Description

The Painter / Glazer is responsible for performing a range of tasks involving the installation, repair, and replacement of windows, window assemblies, and glass, as well as delivering high-quality interior and exterior painting services. This role requires technical proficiency in working with glass and window components, as well as exceptional skill in preparing and painting surfaces for a professional finish. The Specialist must ensure all tasks are completed with a high standard of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and adherence to safety protocols. 
 
Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
  • Accurately measure, cut, install, and repair window frames, window assemblies, screens and glass panes. 
  • Inspect and replace broken, cracked, or damaged glass while ensuring proper sealing and weatherproofing. 
  • Apply appropriate techniques when handling different types of glass, including tempered, double-pane, and decorative varieties. 
  • Repair or replace seals, caulking, and other components to ensure windows are secure, insulated, and functional. 
  • Provide advice on the best materials and solutions for windows and glass based on customer or project needs. 
  • Maintain and organize all tools, equipment, and materials needed for glass work. 
 
Painting Responsibilities:
  • Prepare surfaces, including window frames, walls, and exterior areas, for painting by cleaning, sanding, patching, and priming. 
  • Use tools such as brushes, rollers, or sprayers to apply paint, stains, or coatings to achieve smooth and even finishes. 
  • Mix and match paint colors to ensure professional results that align with specified designs or project requirements. 
  • Conduct minor repairs to imperfections on surfaces prior to painting, including fixing cracks, filling gaps, and smoothing uneven areas. 
  • Ensure all painting work complements the window and glass installations for a unified appearance. 
  • Adhere to safety protocols pertaining to the use of painting equipment, ladders, scaffolding, and hazardous chemicals. 
 
Additional Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with team members, supervisors, and other departments to coordinate work activities and ensure timely project completion. 
  • Ensure all work performed meets quality standards and complies with company guidelines and safety regulations. 
  • Keep the work area clean and organized, including removing debris after job completion. 
  • Maintain open communication with supervisors regarding project updates, challenges, or resource needs. 
  • Stay up-to-date with industry standards and new techniques related to glazing, glass installations, and painting. 
 
Minimum Requirements: 
  • Demonstrated experience in window and glass installation, repair, and replacement. 
  • Working knowledge of painting tools, techniques, and materials. 
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to produce high-quality results on all assigned tasks. 
  • Understanding of safety procedures for handling glass panels, cutting tools, painting chemicals, and related equipment. 
  • Physical ability to handle heavy materials, work at heights, and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity. 
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate effectively with teammates and supervisors.
  • Maintain a current Massachusetts drivers license for a minimum of 3 years 
  • Complete required trainings and certifications for Holy Cross
  • Certified to operate man lift
  • This position requires to be “on call” on a rotating schedule
 
Preferred Qualifications: 
  • Certification or specialized training in glazing or window installation (preferred but not required). 
  • Experience working with advanced painting techniques, such as texturing or faux finishing. 
 
Physical and Work Environment Requirements:
  • Work may be performed indoors or outdoors, sometimes in challenging weather conditions or at heights on ladders and scaffolding. 
  • Frequent lifting and maneuvering of heavy glass panels, window assembly components, and painting equipment is required. 
  • Must follow strict safety protocols to minimize risks associated with glass handling, painting materials, and job site conditions. 
 
Reporting Structure: 
This position reports to Painting and Glazing Shop Supervisor
