Description

The Division Vice President leads a geographic or market business unit as part of the overall company mission and strategic plan. Manages the development of division leaders and staff, leadership of strategic planning process with key staff members, client and project development, and establishing the culture of the division geared toward our envisioned future. Contributions would also include oversight, leadership, and participation in executing goals established for financial success, staff development, brand recognition and community engagement. In this role you may be required to travel up to 50% of the time.

Responsibilities:

  • Continuously looks at ways of incorporating best practices to the division to create efficiencies and continued effectiveness.
  • Cultivates and maintains a strong relationship with current and potential clients.
  • Create and implement policies, procedures, standard reporting and quality standards to ensure consistency in execution, contracting, and operation to meet quality standards of safety and construction (including code and permitting compliance).
  • Ensure that day-to-day operations are effectively and efficiently coordinated, implemented, and conducted within the framework of the overall corporate strategy.
  • Establishes and promotes contacts with appropriate local and state agencies, associations, developers, and other prospective customers, to obtain work for the division/company and to enhance good public relations. Promotes positive relationships among all entities within the industry. 
  • Establishes profitability goals and strategies to achieve them; manage and control internal cost to ensure profitability. 
  • Hires, manages, and directs the career development of direct reports.
  • Mentor/coach and create development tracks for associates, instill and promote core values and culture/philosophy throughout the division and at all project locations.
  • Ensures appropriate and timely completion of construction activities, also ensuring alignment of costs/expenditure to agreed/set budgetary and contract guidelines.
  • Keeps abreast of competition, area growth trends, market studies, and other circumstances of possible impact on regional operations. Keeps abreast of legislative development and government actions affecting the Company.
  • Manage compliance with legal, regulatory, and environmental requirements. 
  • Oversee and manage project risk with respect to solicitation, bidding, and ongoing management through project staffing and execution. Assess management capabilities and needs, with methods to attract, recruit, and retain a talented management team to meet those needs. 
  • Review and approve all detailed project scheduling and ensure that timeframes are met on time and on budget. 
  • Set operational and/or performance goals which are aggressive, achievable, and meet or exceed long-term goals. 
  • Work with the development team and construction team to ensure budgets for all projects are met, oversees profit and loss of the division

Requirements: 

  • Bachelor's Degree in Building Science, Construction Management, Civil Engineering or related field preferred
  • 15-20 years of extensive experience in Project Management and/or Field Supervision of large commercial construction projects. Must also have demonstrated experience estimating and preconstruction management of large commercial construction projects. 
  • Firm understanding of all facets of the construction business, including accounting, project management, field operations, legal, real estate, design, business, etc. 
  • Demonstrated experience with business development and sales strategy and processes
  • Established network of business contacts for recruiting new business and talent
  • Proficient in MS Office and construction management software
  • Valid Driver's License required
