Planning Associate / HPM
Description
The Planning Associate is responsible for analytical support required for the HPM Planning team to provide strategic leadership and direction for new or developing Client engagements. This position will conduct day to day coordination, data gathering/analysis, meeting coordination and support, and report writing for planning related projects. Key contributions include data collection and analysis, risk analysis, and ability to develop a deep understanding and proficiency with the services, solutions, and capabilities of HPM Planning. This position requires creative thinking and presentation skills in multiple mediums and establishes and reinforces HPM’s planning expertise with Clients. In this role you may be required to travel 25% of the time.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Support Planning Services team to provide strategic and clear communication in all formats (written, spoken, social media, public presentations, etc.) on behalf of HPM to clients and public audiences.
- Work with the Planning Services lead manager and Client to develop solutions to complex challenges though various techniques including, but not limited to: comparisons of various data sets, compilation of facility assessment information; development of detailed cost/benefit analyses and risk assessments for various planning options; review and analysis of various forms of consultant contracts and services; develop fundamental responsibility matrices for teams and ensure that Clients’ need is being addressed properly among team members.
- Support the management of planning phases and key information required to advance long range plan development to completion.
- Assist in the development of Planning Schedules to include multi-phasing, assessment and data collection, analysis periods, community engagement, etc.
- Develop and maintain graphic exhibits to illustrate data and information gathered during the planning process.
- Manage data and information utilizing multiple platforms including GIS, InDesign, Microsoft products, etc.
Education Requirements:
- BS in Urban Planning, Architecture, Geographic Information Systems, or related field
Requirements:
- 1-3 years’ experience
- Microsoft Platform (InDesign, Excel, Word, Power Point, Publisher, Access)
- Geographic Information Systems experience preferred
