Construction Cost Engineer / HPM

Description

The Cost Engineer will work directly with the Principals of HPM’s Construction Audit, Risk, and Contracts Group in the execution and delivery of consulting services to a wide range of capital improvement programs and projects. This position specializes in audit and advisory services on capital improvement projects and programs. The individual is not required to be in the office 100%, but the expectation is that they will largely report to the office. Travel fluctuates between 25% to 50% and weekend stays are very unlikely.  

Responsibilities:  

  • Gathering, processing, and analyzing data related to costs, schedules, and risk
  • Participate in physical and virtual meetings with clients, contractors, and consultants
  • Auditing Construction Costs, budgets, and changes
  • Support for expert litigation services in design and construction
  • Contract review and interpretation
  • Writing reports related to Audit and Risk findings
  • Working on multiple projects and engagements at any time
Education Requirements: 
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Science, Engineering, Accounting, Economics, or related field
Preferred Experience:
  • 7+ Years in the Construction Accounting, Project management, Program Management, cost engineering, or project controls of Capital projects
  • Certified Cost Professional (CCP) from AACEi
  • Chartered Quantity Surveyor

Software Requirements: 

  • Must generally understand and utilize Information Technology in the performance of work including Internet, Intranet, Microsoft Windows OS, Adobe Acrobat, Microsoft Office Suite, and Cost Management systems

Other certifications, experiences, and skill sets that are desired: 

  • Experience with scheduling software such as P6 or MS Project
  • Proficiency at other MS Products including Project, Power Apps, Access
  • Certification in Estimating from ASPE, AACE, or ICEAA
  • Certified Public Accountant, Certified Fraud Examiner
  • Experience with construction financial and control software such as Procore, eBuilder, CmiC, Timberline, Viewpoint, etc.
  • Construction Law experience
