Description

The CDL Driver is responsible for transporting various construction material, goods and or equipment to construction jobsites using a company vehicle. This person is experienced in the loading and hauling of vast types of material and has the ability to determine the weight and capacities of the material being transported. The loads under consideration may be construction material needed in a situation where the providing material supplier cannot meet delivery schedule as needed or standard delivery requirements, where timeliness is of the utmost importance. 

*90% local pickups/deliveries 

*Home most nights 

*Run hot-shot style trick/trailer configurations hauling an assortment of small construction equipment and materials. 

Responsibilities: 

·         Perform daily vehicle safety inspections and pre-trip inspections (correctly complete driver's logbook) of his/her vehicle and be able to explain what one inspects and why. 

·         Responsible for accurately maintaining and operating a company-supplied Electronic Logging Device as required by DOT 

·         Safely load, bind, and unload all equipment and materials over all terrains. 

·         Deliver goods, equipment, and materials to construction site. 

·         Maneuver and control the vehicle in a safe fashion, which includes handling the vehicle on-site and in over-the-road situations, proper signaling, searching for hazards, controlling speed, lane positioning, matching speeds to road conditions (wet, dry, snow or ice), and the ability to drive during the daytime or nighttime. 

·         Responsible for routine fueling, lubricating, and servicing of the vehicle. 

·         Travel (sometimes in excess of 100 miles from shop) to job sites and work outdoors. 

Requirements: 

·         High School Diploma, GED or equivalent 

·         CDL Class A Drivers License required 

·         Must have familiarity with local, state, and federal DOT rules, regulations, and requirements. 

·      1 year of experience in hauling a variety of goods and materials including safely loading, binding, and transporting. 

·         Basic knowledge of vehicle mechanics and tools 

·         Reading, written and verbal communication skills in English

Environment: Work is performed in an indoor and outdoor setting with exposure to all types of weather and temperature conditions, and travel from site to site. 

Physical: Primary functions require sufficient physical ability and mobility to stand or sit for prolonged periods of time; considerable movement in and out of vehicles; to occasionally stoop, bend, kneel, crouch, reach, and twist; to lift, carry, push, and/or pull light to moderate amounts of weight up to 50 lbs.; to operate equipment requiring repetitive hand movement and fine coordination; to travel to other locations using various modes of private and commercial transportation; and to verbally communicate to exchange information. 

Vision: See in the normal visual range with or without correction.  

Hearing: Hear in the normal audio range with or without correction.
