The Construction Audit Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing audit activities for large‑scale, multi‑billion‑dollar construction projects. This role ensures the accuracy, compliance, and integrity of construction billings and financial reporting while partnering closely with corporate management across multiple departments. The ideal candidate will bring 10–15 years of relevant experience (minimum of 8 years required) and a strong background in construction finance, audit practices, and contract compliance.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead the review, validation, and reconciliation of construction billings for multi‑billion‑dollar capital projects.
  • Evaluate contractor billing files to ensure compliance with contract terms, approved budgets, and cost substantiation requirements.
  • Prepare monthly construction billing approval recommendations based on reviewed billings and unresolved exceptions.
  • Identify billing discrepancies, cost irregularities, or non‑compliant charges and communicate findings to internal stakeholders and external contractors.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact with contractors regarding billing questions, audit observations, and documentation requirements.
  • Collaborate daily with corporate management across multiple departments.
  • Provide clear, professional written and verbal communication of payment application reviews and other audit results.
  • Manage the monthly billing review process and quarterly accrual compilation and communication to internal departments.
  • Monitor accounts payable and invoice workflows to ensure timely processing and payment.
  • Track follow‑up items and work with contractors and internal teams to resolve outstanding billing issues promptly.
  • Supervise, mentor, and develop audit staff; delegate assignments and review work to ensure accuracy and quality.
  • Provide guidance on complex billing issues, contract interpretation, methodology, and best practices.
  • Support continuous process improvement and contribute to the enhancement of internal audit procedures and controls.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • Minimum 8 years of experience in construction audit, construction finance, or related fields; 10–15 years preferred.
  • Strong understanding of construction contracts, billing practices, cost‑plus and GMP structures, change orders, and schedule‑of‑values accounting.
  • Demonstrated experience working with large‑scale capital projects and multi‑disciplinary corporate teams.
  • Excellent analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills.
  • Proven leadership abilities with experience managing audit staff or project teams.
  • High level of integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to corporate governance standards.
  • Proficient in MS Office 
  • Valid Driver's License Required
