Public Sector Business Manager
Description
- Build a fact-based understanding of the state and local government marketplace including funding drivers, procurement behaviors, competitive landscape, and agency priorities.
- Consolidate internal and external research into clear insights that shape regional strategies and guide resource allocation.
- Provide market guidance to HON and HNI brands to ensure a unified front, consistent messaging, and alignment across all public sector activities.
- Translate insights into strategies that shape pursuit priorities, dealer focus, and program deployment.
- Communicate with a clear and compelling public sector value proposition to dealers, procurement officials, cooperative partners, and internal sales teams.
- Build and maintain a repeatable opportunity pursuit model focused on identifying, qualifying, and advancing high value agency opportunities.
- Strengthen dealer capabilities in public sector selling including contract navigation, response to competitive procurement, and targeted account planning.
- Conduct strategic business reviews with regions to evaluate performance and align opportunities to expand public sector presence. Build and maintain relationships with procurement officials, state and municipal administrators, and cooperative contract stakeholders.
- Act as a trusted advisor to agencies by providing guidance on contract options, specification of opportunities, and evidence-based decision making.
- Represent HON and HNI brands at state procurement events, government association conferences, and cooperative contract activities. Partner with Regional Sales, Channel Marketing, Product, Operations, and HNI sister brands to ensure alignment across customers, contracts, and market narratives.
- Provide senior leadership with consolidated insights on market conditions, agency trends, and competitive shifts.
- Maintain visibility into state and local pipeline and project activity through consistent CRM utilization.
- Participate in activities as appropriate to ensure the success of the organization.
- Bachelor's degree in business administration, marketing, or related field required.
- At least 3 years of experience in business development/sales with exposure to public sector procurement or contract selling required; 5 years of experience is preferred.
- Previous experience or familiarity with HNI/HON product portfolio preferred.
