What We Need:
We are looking for a Factory Manager to join our HNI Workplace Furnishings - Operations team.
- Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise, coordinates, provides leadership and reviews work of direct reports.
- Develop and implement breakthrough strategic initiatives to support the ideal operational objectives
- Conducts performance evaluations and recommends merit increases, promotions, transfers and corrective actions.
- Develop and execute action plans to deliver optimal results for Safety, Quality, Delivery and Cost.
- Maintains financial budget through efficient managment of member resources.
- Enables high levels of workforce engagement between production workers and front-line supervisors.
- Build and develop talent within manufacturing to support organizational demand and future succession.
- Initiate, drive, and support Rapid Continuous Improvements and Lean Initiatives through personal and team contribution, utilizing tools and training methods set forth to continually evolve manufacturing and business processes.
- Ensures safe work conditions for all members through 6S and the accident investigation procedures.
- Functions independently – although position is team based, most functions within the team are independent and critical to the success of the team.
- Works with other areas of the organization on Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Safety initiatives to make improvements.
- Aligns production plans to the forecast to support our hourly Workforce Planning strategy.
- Participates in activities as appropriate to ensure the success of the organization.
Education Required:- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations, Organizational/Business Management or applicable discipline, is preferred
Experience Required:- Minimum of 5 years of successful management experience in an operations (manufacturing/distribution/lean) organization
- In lieu of 5 years of actual management experience, a combination of bachelor’s degree, lean manufacturing experience and a demonstrated potential to succeed in higher level jobs (in the future)
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:- Proven organizational skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Ability to understand the needs of internal and external customers, the business, and the competitive landscape.
- Effective team player, willing to take initiative and drive issues to resolution.
- Effective conflict resolution to facilitate team and customer expectations.
- Demonstrated ability to work well under pressure with changing priorities and meets deadlines with quality output.
- Strong analytical problem solving skills viewing the network as a series of integrated and interlocked processes and understands the ripple effect of isolated changes.
- Effective communication skills at all levels of the organization.
- Strong interpersonal skills with strong attention to details.
- Intermediate level skills in Microsoft Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc.
- Understanding of OSHA guidelines is preferred.
Reporting to this position:- A mix of hourly and salary support staff across multiple departments and shifts (structure varies by facility).
Working and/or Physical Conditions:- The operations environment has extreme fluctuations in temperature, humidity and dust.
- Climbing stairs to attend meetings is required.
- Depending upon the location of the office within the operations facility, safety glasses, sleeves, safety shoes and hearing protection may be mandated.
- Occasional lifting of up to 40 lbs.
- Occasional pushing, pulling, bending, reaching, stooping, standing and walking.
Travel Requirements:- Limited travel as required, less than 25%.
