Category Manager, Supply Chain
Description
- Develop and execute category strategies that align with business goals and deliver value across cost, quality, and service
- Own supplier relationships and performance, driving accountability, continuous improvement, and long-term strategic value
- Integrate customer needs and decision criteria into sourcing strategies to deliver innovative, value-driven solutions
- Use data and systems (e-Procurement tools, ERP, and Microsoft Office) to support data-driven decision making
- Lead negotiations for contracts, pricing, and issue resolution, partnering cross-functionally to secure favorable outcomes and mitigate risk
- Assess operational and financial supply chain risks to ensure continuity and alignment with business objectives
- Drive supplier development and performance through structured management, collaboration, and problem-solving
- Apply project management skills and LEAN principles to optimize cost, inventory, working capital, and space utilization
- Partner across functions and business units to align strategies and deliver results in a matrixed environment
- Travel (up to ~15%) to HNI/Kimball locations and supplier sites to support relationship management, issue resolution, and ongoing collaboration
- Bachelor’s degree strongly preferred, with at least 5 years of relevant experience required and 7+ years preferred
- IMS or other supply chain/procurement certifications preferred
- Alternatively, at least 10 years of relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree
- Demonstrated expertise in LEAN manufacturing principles, ERP systems, and data analysis tools, with the ability to apply them in complex environments
- Strong communication skills across multiple formats, with the ability to influence stakeholders and build relationships without direct authority
- Proven ability to lead in a matrixed, cross-functional environment, balancing competing priorities and driving alignment
- Experience managing supplier relationships, including performance management, issue resolution, and continuous improvement
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills, combining data analysis with practical execution
- High level of organizational awareness and ability to navigate and influence within a complex organization
