What We Need:

We are looking for an Engineering Technician to join our HNI Workplace Furnishings - Operations team. 

SAFETY:
  • Support Factory member safety by actively participating and engaging the leadership team on making the SPFMEA a live document and consistently make efforts to reduce Risk Priority Number (RPN) and achieve X point by the end of the year
QUALITY:
  • Support factory quality metrics by actively participating and engaging the leadership team on making the PFMEA a living document and make efforts to reduce RPN by X points by the end of the year.
  • Support factory quality metrics by achieving 90%+ LPA completion rate and control plan validation for assigned flows daily.
  • Drive process control utilizing tier management system, and escalations:
    • Utilize tier process to ensure the escalations are managed and completed promptly.
    • Ensure that process control tools are correct, living and being followed (utilizing factory leadership)
  • Deep dive quality and other factory issues using problem solving skills
    • Complete problem-solving activities using 8D and other problem-solving tools, aligning with the factory needs, and coaching members as appropriate
  • Reduce customer impact of poor-quality products
    • Ensure that members are following established process standards
    • Audit product/parts to ensure that parts are manufactured to print.
    • Act as the customer. Members should be comfortable communicating with management and making decisions utilizing data.
  • Drive process control utilizing tier management system, and escalations.
    • Utilize tier process to ensure the escalations are managed and completed promptly.
    • Ensure that process control tools are correct, living and being followed (utilizing factory leadership)

 

DELIVERY:
  • Support factory delivery metrics by engaging production members, leadership team, and maintenance members to improve equipment uptime by reducing maintenance related downtime by 20% through implementation of effective OPM and TPM for equipment on assigned production flows
COST:
  • Support factory cost metrics to reduce scrap cost by completing 90%+ daily inbound audits for raw materials for assigned production flows 
 
  • Day-To-Day Responsibilities: 
    • Process and product quality adherence to standards. – line calls, incoming inspection, and SCAR’s.
    • Change management – Document maintenance (Safety and Quality) FMEA, JSA, LOTO, Critical to Quality, factory standards, PM procedures.
    • Tier escalation support – Daily escalations, CAR resource for problem solving activities.
    • Perform 3Tec imports and other daily information flow standard work
    • Troubleshoot machine, tooling, programming, and information flow failures and partner with Skilled Trades, Tooling, and Engineering for repairs
 

 

  • Team Structure:
    • Effectively work alongside Engineers, Group Leaders, Skilled Trades and Production 
    • Partner with Safety and Quality teams
    • Indirectly support production members 
    • Reports to Factory Manager  
 
    • Improvement opportunities: 
      • This position is a new position and work instructions for many of the tasks do not exist 
      • Tasks for this position will be pulled from different groups – GLs, WZLs, Engineering, Safety and Quality – this member will need to be able to work with many different teams/members to document standards
      • This position will need to support both 1st and 2nd shift operations and will be asked to work hours that supports both shifts as needed

        • Relationship building members in this role will excel at building relationships across multiple factories and groups

        • Analytics & technical skills: strong attention to detail, able to analyze data and trends and summarize, seamlessly work with technology
 
        • Key Performance Metrics Summary:
          • Reduction in PFMEA of X points in RPN for assigned production flows
          • 90%+ Daily LPA completion rate and control plan validation for assigned flows
          • Safety: Reduction in SPFMEA of X points in RPN for assigned production flows
          • Quality:
