What You’ll Be Doing:

  • Supporting our health client accounts by creating and executing comprehensive government relations, advocacy, communications, and stakeholder engagement plans that support their objectives.
  • Supporting the creation and implementation of integrated public affairs plans that change public opinion and prompt government action.
  • Proactively monitoring, interpreting, and reporting on government activities – including the political, parliamentary, legislative, and regulatory landscapes.
  • Undertaking specific policy research activities in support of broader strategies and plans.
  • Preparing prepare written materials such as agendas, activity reports, stakeholder maps, briefing documents, presentations, submissions, and leave-behinds, tailored for various audiences and platforms.
  • Coordinating arrangements for client engagement with government representatives and stakeholders, directly representing client interests where appropriate
  • Working with teams to plan and execute virtual and in person events and meetings
  • Exercising your creativity and strategic thinking in devising innovative strategies to address potentially complex client issues or public affairs challenges.
  • Advising clients on government relations responses and messaging related to crises and issue developments.
  • Crafting compelling, engaging and well-informed messages and advocacy materials including briefing notes, backgrounders, fact sheets, position papers, submissions, and presentations.
  • Leveraging existing relationships (of your own or of your colleagues) with an established network of political/governmental officials and developing additional contacts where needed to allow for expert analysis and insights into current political issues and policy priorities.
  • Working in an integrated way with Sector Leads, Specialty Experts and other leaders across the business to provide integrated support and service.
  • Exploring digital advocacy and social media tools to benefit clients, potential clients and the agency.
  • Complying with all relevant lobbyist registration legislation and regulations.
  • Measuring and reviewing success of H+K programs for clients against stated goals.
  • Contributing creativity, passion and expertise to an entrepreneurial team environment where everyone’s voice is heard, highly valued and rewarded
  • Mentoring and working alongside a collaborative team of smart and enthusiastic PR professionals across the country within a globally influential agency


  • Minimum 2 to 3 years’ experience in a communications, public affairs, government, or political role
  • Post secondary degree in political science, public policy, communications, or similar program
  • Outstanding written and presentation skills, bilingualism (oral and written French and English) is a considerable asset
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills, ability to clearly articulate complex content
  • Passion, tenacity and enthusiasm for the H+K brand
